Cask at Old Contemptibles, Birmingham. Does have moments of hoppy lightness, but they’re too brief. Savoury biscuits often accompany cheese. Refreshing, but has sugar sprinkled on wafer.

Served at Nicholson’s (M&B) Princess of Wales Villiers Street London WC2. Cloudy, barely any condition, some sediment, and sour - staff and manager claimed that this was because of the hoppiness. And the next pint drawn was so cloudy that it was then said that the beer was off!

On tap at the Kenilworth. Appearance - hazy lemon with a nice head. Nose - lemon and grapefruit with cornflakes in the background. Some honey. Taste - more grapefruit and cornflakes but no honey thank goodness. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - good example of a golden ale.

Cask conditioned at The Chequers, Oxford. Pale gold with white head. This was quite thin on the palate, sweet, lemon sherbert like but without the fizz. The hops do show through a little but are very light. A little underwhelming.
