Interesting Scottish take on a Belgian Tripel - it has a light floral aroma, golden brown body with an off-white head, unmistakeable Belgian style strong fruity highlights in the taste, quite strong to the taste but somewhat mellow with malty highlights. Would be a good beer to give any enthusiast of both Scottish and Belgian beers, or someone you want to get into them! Worth a shot!

Despite the modest score this is a good beer. It is pretty much "what it says on the tin" (bottle)!

AROMA: floral, spruce, banana, APPEARANCE: amber, orange, clear, minimal head, white foam, TASTE: medium bitterness, PALATE: full body, slick feel, average carbonation, bitter, long finish, OVERALL: ok ale, but not the aromas I like, especially too hoppy, more a belgian christmas abbey than a tripel, wrong colour even!

500ml bottle from Appellation Wines, Dalry. Pours a surprisingly dark orange, good head & lacing. Aromas of yeast, coriander and butterscotch. Slips down nicely for 8%, but some lingering buttery notes, along with citrus and Sorachi Ace (the bubblegum referred to on the label I guess?). Finish is short and sweet. Unusual for the style. Might get a higher mark after aging for a bit, tasted a bit too fresh to me.

Bottle. Murky brown with a thin short lasting head. Orange, coriander and bubblegum aroma. Flavour is coriander, orange, banana with a spicy yeastiness. A dry hoppy finish. 8% ABV very well hidden.

Aroma: Pear drops, freshly cut oranges, banana and bubblegum.

Appearance: Murky amber/mahogany body with a thin off-white head than quickly disappears. No lacing.

Taste: Orange, pear, coriander and spice. Quite sweet and yeasty. Interesting flavours.

Palate: Thin to medium body with an oily texture. Soft carbonation.

Overall: A very good take on the classic Belgian beer. Very easy drinking for its 8% ABV. Just lacking a bit in terms of head and body.
