Looked great, but smelled of bacon bits.. or maybe beef jerky. Tasted just as awful, if not worse. Severely overrated. Stewart’s cannot make a beer with "smoke" in the title that’s enjoyable.

On tap at Yards. Aroma of smoke, charcoal, coffee and pine hop. Pours light black (if that’s a thing) with a small biege head. Taste is wonderfully roasty with smoke forward and a roast coffee finish. Perfect amount of malt present. Kind of thin in the mouth but effectively roasty and well carbonated. Great smoked porter.

Firkin at Real Ale. Pours a deep brown with tan head. Nose of smoked meats. Overwhelming smoke. Not something I like.

Smokey aroma, but not overpowering. Taste is similar to a deep amber ale with a smokiness. Personally, I still can’t do more than one smoked beer in a sitting.

Tap at MASHOUT 2009. Pours a deep dark woody brown with a nice lasting head- some lace. Aroma is sharp smoked wood- I can kinda get the beechwood, but seems a bit harsh- burnt brown toasted malts- over baked burnt cookies, some chocolate malts, and sweet tootsie roll. Flavor is cookie dough, chocolate malts, light roast, ok smoke, green minty herbal hops, and a mostly smooth finish. Good.

Aroma: Woody and smokey, coffee, actually has a pretty similar nose to the stout
Appearance: Dark brown with a light brown head, coating lace
Flavor: Similar to the nose, but it is a little thinner, and lacking some in flavor, smokey, mild bitterness
Palate: A bit light in body, thin, decent mouthfeel
This was a pretty decent beer, but it was so much better in the nose then in the drink that I was a bit disappointed once I tasted it. Still pretty solid, but not spectacular by any means.

On tap at brewpub. Poured deep brown color with a one finger head that did leave some lacing. Roasted malts, light coffee, and some hops in the aroma. The flavor was solid with the dark roasted malts and hops. Thin mouthfeel with a bit of dryness.

On draft at stewarts. Black in color, good head and good lacing. Nice aroma of coffee and roasted malt. Taste was a very well balanced porter. Coffee, roasted malt, a little spiceyness from the smoke. Similar to their old perculator... Good texture and carbonation. I enjoyed this beer. Overall good brew!

Draft pint at the brewpub. Pitch black with a whisper of an off-white foam. The aroma isn’t too different than a chimney, but not in an overpowering way. It drinks with a bit of an ashy smokiness. There’s a bit of nice bitter finish, making this quite a drinker. (#3179, 11/8/2007)

GABF 2007: Poured a clear deep brown color with a tan head. The aroma was smoke and chcolate with a little fruit. Smokey flavor over sweet dark malt. Decent smoke in the aroma and flavor.
