Erzengel (3543) - Wuppertal, GERMANY - JUL 14, 2013
50cl. Nice cloudy orange in the glass, fresh and typical malty Alt-aroma in the nose. The beer starts soft, malty and fullbodied. The mainpart is dominated by the malty aroma, that contains a soft, slightly sweet subnote. The typical, a bit earthy yeast is also present. The aftertaste is long, very soft and a bit roasted, malt, yeast and nice hops. A great unfiltered Altbier, which has to be drunk very fresh! The nice aroma disappears very soon after the best-before-date. And it tends to turn sour fast. 13/12/13/13

Getrunken beim 1. BTO-Treffen. Fruchtiger, Alt untypischer Geruch. Das Bier ist hopfig und vor allem im Nachgeschmack recht hefig. Sehr süffig istes, mir allerdings zu CO2 arm. Test vom 30.12.2006, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 9,9,8,7,9,9 - 8,55

Draught at the Stiefel-Jurgens Brewpub in Beckum. Cloudy medium brown color. Sour, fruity aroma. Malty. Malt flavor ok, but very sour. Maybe too old or otherwise off? Inexcusable at the brewpub.

Bottle, 4.8%. OK spicy hop aroma. Almost clear brown colour. Very small head. Good spicy hop flavour. Finishes with a bit much aroma hop flavour, but OK. Much better than other Stiefel-Jürgen beers.

Düsseldorf Gathering, Bottled. Sweet apple aroma. Amber color, yellowish fine head, good lace. Sweet, caramel, bitter in the finish. Sticky and full. Not too complicated but certainly ok.

Bottle, provided by MoritzF - thanks! Hazy orange amber, fluffy golden head. Minerally strawberry gum aroma, butterscotch, citric hops. Relatively light bready body, the minerally and fruity notes go again, caramel, nut. Sparkly mouthfeel - wellconditioned bottle, I hardly touched the swing-top before it opened. Minerally retronasal. Fairly quick finish. Nice fresh Alt.

Swing-top. Dense beige head over lively, cloudy copper liquid. Smells sweetly malty with caramel and light hops. Tastes much the same, smooth and light, no real bitterness. Watery, but with a touch of roast, and yeastiness slowly making itself known. Dry, hoppy finish. Thanks to MoritzF!
