Delicious, full-bodied Salzburg beer specialty.

Stiegl Goldbräu boasts an unrivalled, well rounded, balanced and wonderfully thirst-quenching flavour. Mildly hopped with a typical refreshing beer bouquet, golden colour, a magnificent fine head and pleasant aftertaste, Stiegl Goldbräu is the enjoyment of beer at the highest level. 12°

(Bottle, marketed only Salzburger Stiegl Beer) Seems relatively typical for an Austrian beer, fairly subdued and controlled but with a little bit of a richer malt than a lot of mainstream lagers. There’s a slight sourness and almost a faint hint of vinegar, not unpleasant, in the aroma. Hops noticeable but not strong, adding a nice crispness; the malt is the dominant character of the aroma. Pleasant but somewhat unremarkable. A little bit heavier than I’d like, perhaps slightly too sweet for me.

0,5l bottle. This beer has a better Reputation as it tastes. In the beginning its quite ok but it leaves a bad aftertaste in the mouth. Take a Stiegl Spezial instead, thats far better. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I lived in Vienna for a few years and sometimes at nights we would go to a Gas Station to buy a few. I considered it the best Gas Station beer.

Cask. Clear golden body with large, frothy, white head, mostly lasting with some lacing. Moderate malty aroma (grains, bread) with light-to-moderate hoppy notes. Moderate sweet flavour with light bitterness. Light-to-medium body with oily texture; soft carbonation.

Flaske delt på RBHD-samlingen hos Asle Bjørn: storboblet, kort skum. Litt honning i aromaen. Smaken er kort og tynn. Instantly forgettable. Kveldens ellevte øl, og en ny standard for intetsigende øl er satt.

UPDATED: APR 30, 2015 Rerate, 330 ml bottle, as Stiegl Goldbräu, from CITTI-Markt Flensburg. BB date 14.01.2014. ABV is 4.9%. Fairly bland and neutral aroma and flavour, but without the unpleasant "cooked vegetables" character of the Hütten-Gaudi. I’m upping a point or two. Original rating: 330 ml shared bottle, as Stiegl Hütten-Gaudi, from CITTI-Markt Flensburg. Golden colour, low white head. "Cooked" / "boiled" aroma of pilsener wort and cooked vegetables. Smooth mouthfeel. Cooked vegetables and wort in the flavour too (like a n/a beer), a little hops in the finish. Not much "Gaudi" with this one. Very disappointing.

Clear pale golden. Almost no head. Aroma of honey, wet cardboard and hops. More wet cardboard in taste. Unfresh and waterish.
