Almost as good as Zipfer! Even more refreshing, a bit lighter. Zesty, like European bread. Best on Atterset with friends.

This is really nice and one of my new favourite non-pilsner-style golden lagers. It is deep gold with a big white head that slowly shrinks to a permanenet smaller white head. The aroma, a bit sweet, is a full-bodied, very nice lager, wioth grain, honey, lots of flowery-herbal-pine hops qualities, crakcers. The taste is quite full-bodied with lots of grain, herbs, honey, flowers, very aromatic, with a light bitterness and a sweet finish of grain combined with gtrassy bitterness. It’s full-bodied and a bit oily, with a slightly unusual taste for a lager that is hard to pin down. It’s refreshing but delicsioulsy tasty. It goes very well with chicken. In short, this is wonderful.

Had it as Salzburger with a much cooler bottle with old time print. I am not always a huge Lager fan but this is one of the best ones. Crisp, clean and slightly sweet, this is what most people would consider the classic flavor of beer yet done much better. Might bne a good beer to convert Miller Drinkers. I mean that in a good way. A gateway beer if you will.

Perfect beer, one of many austrian perfect beers that can be in the whole country, true story!

UPDATED: DEC 7, 2007 Deep coloured ‘gold beer’. Soft and full bodied with a pleasant floral aroma. A well rounded initial sweetness is followed by a mildly hoped body and a superb long lasting malt finish with a creamy soft mouth feel.

Downs smoothly and softly but has a bite in the back of the tongue. Taste is hearty and filling with a nice, calm aroma.

Perhaps my favorite Maerzen. IT is a golden color and the easiest to drink out of all of them.

UPDATED: JUN 16, 2011 translucent gold with a bubbly white head, medium body with medium-high carbonation.

Aroma is sweet pale malt with hints of toffee, yeast sulfates, and bread crust.
Taste is lots of sweet malt and sourdough bread crust, with noble hops and complex yeast flavors filling out the background. Hop bitterness is faint, allowing the malt character to take center stage from start to finish.
A good choice for someone who enjoys the body and malt character of Helles lagers, but not the hop bitterness.

Kegged it has a nice nutty malt flavor and is unusually fresh and clean tasting compared to geographically and stylistically similar beers i’ve had before, surely due in part to being better protected from light and heat in a keg.
