Sampled on tap in a proper Stiegl lager mug at Fischer’s in Marylebone High Street, accompanying an excellent schnitzel. This Austrian lager has a golden colour with a frothy white head. Extremely rich, malty aromas and taste. This beer is not lacking in malt flavours and has the taste of freshly baked bread. Some mild hop flavours, but not particularly high in bitterness. Pleasant, malty aftertaste with only mild, rather floral, hop taste. A very good, full tasting lager, much better than all the industrial lagers I have tried lately. Highly drinkable.

Pours a golden clear beer with a good white head. Smells grain, honey and malts. Tastes honey, sweet and malts. Average carbo, thin body and a sticky texture.

Una premium sopra la media. Di colore giallo oro carico, profumi di malto e cereali, briosa al punto giusto, non troppo luppolata, beverina

On tap at Bavarian Beer Cafe August 2013. Ordinary pale, clean and crisp enough but no real flavour there.

Bottled. Poured golden yellow with nice clarity and a bright white head which lingered well. No aroma to speak of. Lightly carbonated with a very light straw flavor... almost watery. Nice clean finish though. A refreshing beer but a little light on for flavor.

On tap poured a clear deep golden to copper hue w/ a large fizzy head. Moderate malt aroma. Initial flavor is light sweet w/ a light bitter finish. Tastes are malt, fresh bread and lime. Light bodied and watery mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(Bottle, marketed only Salzburger Stiegl Beer) Seems relatively typical for an Austrian beer, fairly subdued and controlled but with a little bit of a richer malt than a lot of mainstream lagers. There’s a slight sourness and almost a faint hint of vinegar, not unpleasant, in the aroma. Hops noticeable but not strong, adding a nice crispness; the malt is the dominant character of the aroma. Pleasant but somewhat unremarkable. A little bit heavier than I’d like, perhaps slightly too sweet for me.

0,5l bottle. This beer has a better Reputation as it tastes. In the beginning its quite ok but it leaves a bad aftertaste in the mouth. Take a Stiegl Spezial instead, thats far better. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
