4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: DEC 19, 2014 Very nice Pils. Light golden color, good head retention, nice bitter hops flavor. Just a touch of aromatic hops from a very late hop addition, probably in the whirlpool, but certainly not dry hopped later on. This is one of the few Pilseners made outside of Germany which really stands up well in the style. More character and hop taste than mainstream German PIlseners like Warsteiner, Beck´s and König. The only problem is that it is not well known outside of Austria and tends to stay on the shelf a long time. So finding a fresh bottle or half-liter can may be a problem.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
This poured a straw yellow color with lots of carbonation and a frothy white head. You definitely get that grassy hop aroma. My palate isn’t super sophisticated, but I want to say I could smell the Saaz hops. It’s quite crisp and dry. There is a lingering bitterness in the after taste. And it’s not a very pleasant bitterness in my opinion.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
This was not a pleasant beer drinking experience. Some grainy, corny, grassy flavors, but also a a lot of metallic, vinegary flavors. No thank you.

4/18/2015 (bottle): Grainy, grassy, crisp, and clean. Classic Austrian Pils. This definitely takes me back to my three months spent in Austria in late 2000. I still enjoy this beer quite a bit, but slightly prefer the Stiegl Goldbräu.

A real Austrian Pilsner (Pilsener?). This is getting very close to the original source, and I like it.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
This is getting a better rating due to the fact I am drinking it on a mountain skiing in 55 degree weather. 16oz can at Viking yurt in park city. Malty and crappy.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
16.9 oz can from Whole Foods. Pale golden yellow with a foamy white head. Taste of sweet cereal grains and freshly baked white bread up front. Floral hoppiness along with a grassy backbone takes over. The carbonation is lively. The body is light with a dry finish. The flavor is well balanced, creamy yet crisp and clean. An exemplary pilsener.
