The original Stieglbock is a powerful finely hopped and traditional Bockbier – the Berman term for strong beer – indicating a bottom-fermenting brew from barley malt. Brewed in August, the fermentation process lasts three months which produces a golden color beer with taste and strengths varying from year to year. This beer is perfect for beer lovers who prefer bold types of beer. 16.5 Plato

I enjoyed this beer, as it offered an array of flavors and melded well to offer a great complexity. It is fuller bodied, but stays refreshing, and is well rounded in character. The slight alcohol burn is hardly noticable, and actually offers a nice element to this well done heller bock. I wish it were slightly more hoppy, as it is noble...to say the least

Sweet malty. Light and no head. Sweet cornlike. Nothing special, but good decent beer.

Beautiful clear reddish brown with abubbly head. Malty peppery smell. Subtle fruitiness, slightly rotten. Touch of coriander. Full bready taste. Watery with subtle bitter sweetness. Touch of salt. Bit too much maltiness. Nice balance. Good fizziness.

Bready and candy sweet with minimal hops. Not much depth here, but decent enough...

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a clear golden with a medium white head and an aroma of toffee, malts and some hops. Taste is medium sweet with a very short hoppy and slightly malty finish. Nothing special

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein hell bernsteinfarbenes Bier mit geringer Schaumkrone. Geruch leicht röstmalzig süß, fruchtig malzig, Karamell. Geschmack sehr malzig süß, fruchtig, Karamell.

UPDATED: NOV 19, 2014 Bottle 33cl. Label says Original Stieglbock 2013. Clear medium amber color, small off-white foamy head, recedes quickly; sweet malty nose, caramel, bread, brown sugar, hay, floral hops; moderate sweet, slightly bitter; full body, oily texture, average carbonation; sweetbitter finish, light spicy notes. Retasted 141119: bottle 33cl. as Original Stieglbock 2014. Find the taste this time moderate sweet and bitter, finish is bittersweet with roasted malts and hop presence in the aftertaste. So the palate has more character that’s why I rate this brew slightly better: from 3.3 to 3.4.

Bottle shared @ weekly tasting. Clear dark golden color, virtually no head. Smell and taste malts, grainy, a touch of apple juice and leaves. A bit weird combination, but it’s decent enough. Doesn’t really taste like most heller bocks I’ve had though.

Bottle @benzai. Clear golden colour with a small white head. Smells malts and grains. Tastes malts and grains mostly. Pretty fresh, nothing crazy. Medium body, soft carbo.

33cl Bottle from Mitra A’dam Noord. Clear deep copper colour, white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, alcohol, typical strong lager/Heller Bock, hay. Flavour is medium-sweet, malty, light fruity, alcohol, candy, light-bitter finish. Light-bodied. It’s OK, but not very exciting.
