COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Stiegl-Weizengold is proof positive that we at the Stiegl Brewery in Salzburg are just as much experts at brewing "weissbier" as the Bavarians: Stiegl-Weizengold. 12 ° original gravity, 5.3 % alcohol by volume, finest ingredients, top-fermenting process. All of these are responsible for top quality and an unmistakable flavour. Stiegl-Weizengold is available in two types, the lighter-coloured "Hefefein" and the darker "Dunkel". "Hefefein" weissbier from Salzburg, is refreshing, untreated and invigorating. Brewed by Brauerei Riegele, Augsburg, Germany under supervision of the Stiegl Brauerei.

Thank goodness I have a German store near me that carries this beer. I’m going to buy all they have. At $2.40 a bottle it’s incredible. Way way way underrated.

This is a nice, well-balanced hefeweizen. It is very lightly hazy light gold with a huge, creamy, lasting white ehad that slowly shrinks to a smaller top and leaves some lacing. The aroma is like a blend between a good lager and a hefeweizen, intricate, balanced, and with grain and herbal hops, yeast, light fruit, mild banana and spice, bread. The taste is similar, light but well-rounded and full in flavour, with all the qualities listed above, with a light herbal bitterness, hints of lemon and orange, very balanced and drinkable. It’s clean and crisp, but soft and full in feel.

Dude! This is made with 100% wheat malt. How the fuck is that possible? Well they did it- I went to thier brewery and the brewers confirmed this. They must have used a rediculous amount of rice/barley hulls to prevent clogging in their mash/lauter tuns. With all that Wheat let me say this is a great beer. Huge white head sits on the cloudiest murkiest hefe ive ever seen. The flavor is all wheat malt - obviously and the aroma is of a traditional munich/bavarian wheat- lots of spice (clove and vanilla) with a hint of banana and other fruity esters. Very refreshing and unique. This brewery also has the largest beer museum in europe- which was awesome btw.

UPDATED: SEP 14, 2007 Bottled 0,50L. Creamy and compact head, optimal persistence. Orange clearly color, a lot hazy, bubbly and dense. Much pleasant and coolness scent; notes of lemon, banana, wheat, yeast and wine cellar. Lively and complex. Much prickly taste but not excessive. Pleasant notes of lemon and cereals with wheat, grain, banana, yeast and clear mildews notes. Fresh final of good duration.

Bottle at Man in the moon (Sthlm). Pours a perfect hefeweizen, aroma is spot on, taste is too. Pretty much all I’ve ever wanted in a hefeweizen.

UPDATED: JAN 2, 2007 pours hazy light yellow with a large rocky white head. Aroma is lightly malty of bread. and lightly hoppy of flowers, heavily yeasty of dogh and horseblanket. Flavor is well balanced and finishe balanced but a bit more muted with a short finish. Light bodied watery and livley.

Pours bight yellow with a bit of clouding. The head reaches tall and lingers settling as a sateen sheet. The aroma is textbook with a bit of brightness. Medium full nectar with soft residual effers. Very balanced in flavor. The finish is long with mild bittering. A good specimen.

Hazy gold color, solid, fluffy white head, very attractive and perfect for the style. Aroma is light and dry, tingly spices, a little peppery, then banana cream pie, a hint of citrus, nothing to big or overdone, though. Gently boards the mouth, very smooth, light, but tasty all the way. Medium-bodied, with a soft, dry finish. Refreshing, satisfying, and very laudable in it’s approach. Nothing is too dominant here, no big banana flavor, no huge yeast, no overwhelming clove character...very solid, very classy. A sophisticated wiezen, highly recommended.
