COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Stiegl-Weizengold is proof positive that we at the Stiegl Brewery in Salzburg are just as much experts at brewing "weissbier" as the Bavarians: Stiegl-Weizengold. 12 ° original gravity, 5.3 % alcohol by volume, finest ingredients, top-fermenting process. All of these are responsible for top quality and an unmistakable flavour. Stiegl-Weizengold is available in two types, the lighter-coloured "Hefefein" and the darker "Dunkel". "Hefefein" weissbier from Salzburg, is refreshing, untreated and invigorating. Brewed by Brauerei Riegele, Augsburg, Germany under supervision of the Stiegl Brauerei.

Bottle. Cloudy semi-opaque yellow with white foam. Aroma and flavor have nice strong fruit notes and spices. The carbonation is too high for me, and the finish is not very complex. There’s some sweetness and caramel in the flavor that is interesting.

A real treat: an orangey-gold, perfectly chilled wheat beer in the Southern German style but made in Austria and served to me in a hotel bar in Vienna. Gently flute glass with solid base made it more stable and caught the light better. Made myself sip it as I did my e-mail. Could easily have had several more but I was knackered. Slept well.

On tap at Black Dog Söröző, Budapest. It is served with a slice of lemon. Hazy pale color with white rocky head. Citrus, mildly yeasty aroma. Sweet-dry wheat taste. Light body with creamy texturea and average carbonation. Long dry citrus finish. Delicious citrus wheat beer. It’s very citrus, but it may be because the slice of lemon... It’s not the best weissbier, I’ve ever tasted.

On tap, Walhalla club, Budapest.

Had this awhile ago. Might have been an old bottle because it wasn’t that great.

Starts off good, but then declines to average. Then, considering that "average" weizen is great, not that bad.

50 cl bottle - Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a one and a half finger thick off white head. Light lacing. Aroma is your typical estery German Hefe with some light spice. Flavor is much of the same. Body is a little thinner than I expected. Overall, a nice German Hefe.

Mild herber Antrunk, etwas sauer zitronenartig.

500ml bottle. Pours a cloudy orange / amber colour with a foamy off-white head. Aromas of dough up front, followed by banana, clove, orange. The taste is pink bubblegum, banana bread, icing sugar, with mineral notes in the spicy finish.
