Commercial Description:
The original Stieglbock is a powerful finely hopped and traditional Bockbier – the Berman term for strong beer – indicating a bottom-fermenting brew from barley malt. Brewed in August, the fermentation process lasts three months which produces a golden color beer with taste and strengths varying from year to year. This beer is perfect for beer lovers who prefer bold types of beer. 16.5 Plato

27th May 2008. Nice smooth bock. Very soft in texture but with a pleasant malty depth. No bitterness.

Blonde appearance, white head. I found the aftertaste very dry, but not so metallic as to be off-putting. Definitely some caramel and grain in the nose, but the smell is best described as follows: the backwash at the bottom of a bottle that’s been sitting out in the sun for a few days. The aroma is tricky for me: it’s enjoyable at the same time as it’s stale (if that makes sense). I enjoyed the beer on the palate. I taste caramel and something fruity. Overall it’s not bad at all, quite enjoyable actually. I’d try anything from 1492 twice. (Got it from Whole Foods. Bottle)

Weird. The sweet caramely maltines combines with the particular hops they use (and it is decently hoppy) to taste like mint. Definitely not my thing.

( 500ml bottle, 2006 vintage ) Pours a clear golden body with a small white head. Aroma of caramel, old books, toasted grain, and some grass. Flavor of biscuit-like malt, caramel, light pear, grain, and some white grape skins.
