COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The original Stieglbock is a powerful finely hopped and traditional Bockbier – the Berman term for strong beer – indicating a bottom-fermenting brew from barley malt. Brewed in August, the fermentation process lasts three months which produces a golden color beer with taste and strengths varying from year to year. This beer is perfect for beer lovers who prefer bold types of beer. 16.5 Plato

Bottle in a hotel in Bratislava, procured in Vienna. Pours clear, shiny gold with a fine, pure white foam head. The beer looks great. Sweet bread aroma, some cereal and sweet straw. Medium big sweet flavor, sugar, bread, cereal, metal, hay. Medium to big bodied with average carbonation. Sweet, faintly warm finish, some floral hops, metal, cereal. OK beer but not altogether pleasant.

Tap, Centimeter II as Winter Bock/Sonderbier. Clear golden body, medium sized white head. Light dusty hoppy nose.  Malt-driven in its entirety, not much hop, bit grainy. Generally featurelesss, which can be a pretty good achievement for 7%, but I still expected more.

16.9 oz bottle 9/29/11 (Binny’s Plainfield)-48° in Lager Glass-Pours a medium brownish amber with a small off white head. Aroma of caramel, malt, and raisins. Taste of the same with a bit more sweetness. This medium bodied brew is not bad but this style is not my cup of tea.

bottle (2008) in a pint glass - Pours a clear caramel with noticeable off-white head and trace lacing. Nose is strong caramel malts and banana(?). Aroma is caramel with a dose of roasted qualities. taste is sweet and long lasting. Aftertaste falls apart like bad candy. Oily mouthfeel and slightly smoky finish. Overall, enjoy the style, but could try others in this style before fully appreciating the intended goal.

"2006", not sure what that is supposed to mean, must be 5 years old, interesting since I normally like bocks fresh. It pours a dark brownish amber. Very nice looking actually. The head is big and foamy and leaves some nice lacing. The smell is malt up the wazzoo. It smells like an aged can of malt extract or even just a bag of it, just pure malt, no hops.. Not bad, but not the greatest. It is thick and malty in the flavor, and again, just pure bock-styled malt as the flavor. It actually isn’t too sweet though, but it is a one-trick-pony.

330ml bottle. Dated 2010. Pours a clear golden colour, with a foamy white head. Aroma is slightly skunky with caramel, vanilla, sweet notes. Taste is slightly sweet, caramel, alcohol, with many notes that remind me of a beer from the Innis & Gunn family, especially in the finish.

500 ml. bottle. Per the brewery web site this is a beer of vintages. This one has 2006 on the label. Pours a thin off white head, of short duration, over a slightly hazy, dark gold (SRM 6) body....nose is sweet with golden raisin, light grape, cereal, toast .....taste is sweet malts to start, with light fruit tones, including, apple, pear, raisin, finish is lightly bitter, dry....mouth feel is medium, carbonation low. This is not a style I enjoy immensely, but the beer meets it. The malt structure dominates, hops are well hidden as is the alcohol. BJCP 7/3/13/4/7

Már a nyitáskor orrba vág a tömény maláta illat! Finom enyhén édes, erősen malátás, mézes íz. Közepes buborékokból álló tömött hab. Nagyon színpatikusak a folyamatosan felfelé szálló buborékgyöngyök. Sötét sárga, szép tiszta tónus. Remek sör! Úgy néz ki megvan a kedvenc osztrák söröm.
