COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The original Stieglbock is a powerful finely hopped and traditional Bockbier – the Berman term for strong beer – indicating a bottom-fermenting brew from barley malt. Brewed in August, the fermentation process lasts three months which produces a golden color beer with taste and strengths varying from year to year. This beer is perfect for beer lovers who prefer bold types of beer. 16.5 Plato

Says 2004 on the label. Delicate floral aroma with strong malt undertones. Cloudy orange with a creamy head. Flavor starts nice and malty but moves to metallic acridness and finishes unpleasantly tart and bitter. This bottle is past its prime and hasn’t been handled well. Too bad, seems like it would be excellent fresh.

Bready aroma with a floral, fresh fruit salad character that is pleasantly inviting. Clear, deep, golden body is topped by a low, large bubbled white head that recedes to a lasting cover. Very fruity flavour has underlying bready malt character and fair finishing bitterness. Dry medium body, with crisp, fine bubbled, pointy carbonation that engages the tongue. Lager glass. Just above fridge temperature. Bottle (State Line Liquors, MD, Oct-05).

The body is dark gold and clear. The aroma is bready with walnuts and some earthy moss. There is also a little bit of dry apple cider. The taste is slightly spicy mushrooms. There is also some cherry pit character. This is relativly dry.

Brown bottle with a green label instead of this black one in the picture. Pours light amber color with a fluffy tan head that stays for about half of the glass. Constant carbonation rises to the top. Aroma is mostly sweet malts a little bread aroma from the yeast. Flavor is mostly malt a taste of caramel. I detect a touch of spice though and it is overall fairly sweet. On the palate it is thick enough for the style but still very carbonated and light. Good bock one of the better that I’ve had this season.

17 oz. tall brown bottle. 2004 date on front label. Poured out a crystal clear orange-ish yellow color, with a thin, but sturdy white head. Minor lacing down the sides of the glass. Aromas are of sweet German Pils malt, earthy hops, bready lager yeast, and some fresh cut hay as well. Medium mouthfeel, rich, but not thick or overpowering. Malty and slightly sweet. Earthy hops at the end. Damn decent bock in my book. Had I known it was this good, I’d have bought two.

Bottle at the Bier Garden in Portsmouth on 4-30-05. Pours clouded bronze. Nose is sweet and malty with big caramel, light chocolate and ripened dark fruits. Taste is thinner than expected with obvious creamy maltiness blended with caramel, honey, chocolate, and dark fruits. Light pumpernickel bread notes throughout. Body is creamy and smooth. Minimal carbonation feel. Finishes with more caramel and malts along with sweet fruits and light chocolate. Nice!

Pours a hazy bright amber-copper color with a nice foamy lasting off white head that leaves lots of lacing in my glass. Has a sweet fruity and bready aroma. Sweet and malty fruity and caramel flavors, medium body with a slick and smooth mouthfeel, finishes sweet, alcohol well hidden.
