Commercial Description:
The original Stieglbock is a powerful finely hopped and traditional Bockbier – the Berman term for strong beer – indicating a bottom-fermenting brew from barley malt. Brewed in August, the fermentation process lasts three months which produces a golden color beer with taste and strengths varying from year to year. This beer is perfect for beer lovers who prefer bold types of beer. 16.5 Plato

2006 Vintage thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a golden body and a small fading white head. Aroma of alcohol, apple, and honey. Taste is rotten fruits, bread and caramel. Thin body with light bubbles.

Bottle courtesy of bu11zeye. Clear gold pour. Very dry smell. Quite yeasty and bready as well. Taste is dry as well but has a bit of warm flavor. Taste dissipates pretty quickly and leaves you with a mild aftertaste. Almost a play-doh finish though. Not too bad.

50cl bottle, with 2006 printed on the label - if that’s the date this was bottled, this has held up fairly well - hazy gold, fails to kick up much of a head - aroma of dough, diacetyl, fig, raisin, date, some light oxidation and acidity - medium sweet, creamy body - a little metallic/oxidized character, but otherwise the age doesn’t show (if it is that old, which I doubt) - a fairly tasty mixture of fig, date, honey - there is an odd bitterness that arrives late that doesn’t work too well - decent none-the-less.

aroma of nutty malt, substantial and sturdy. appearance is shockingly blonde for the strength it portrays. flavor follows the appearance, comes across quite pilsner like but still not quite light bodied, a certain girth to the flavors remains. and it doesnt go away, this beer has the more tiresome bitterness ive ever experienced. amazing that the bitterness of a 110IBU IIPA is enjoyable but this thing is just killing me, not difficult to finish but difficult to enjoy.

It’s has decent aromas of caramel. Flavor mimicks the aromas but is a touch light.

Oh yeah!!!! mmm, excellent bock beer. Poured with a big, foamy, frothy off white head and a little lace. Lovely medium amber color, but lighter than most bocks I see. Aroma is very beery, malty, and hoppy. Right away in tasting I get malt sweetness that’s immediately tempered with plenty of hops for great balance. The mouthfeel goes with it in great carbonation and body. Definite alcohol warming. Could be a session beer but for the strength. Real easy to have at least another though.

Dark yellow coloured and clear. Has a white head, mostly diminishing. Heavy, malty aroma, light bread. Light hoppy. Moderate to heavy sweet flavor. Moderate bitter. Oily texture. Soft carbonation.

Bottle. Frothy white good mostly deminishing head. Week malty aroma. Light sweet and bitter flavor. Strange spapy moderate bitter finish. Oily palate. Not a very good heller bock.
