shendrix (478), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Sep 21, 2007 Not what I was expecting, because I made the mistake of judging this brew by the "malt liquor" description on the label. Pouring this light amber brew into my glass, I had vision of Schlitz in my head as I girded my loins for the first sip. Imagine my surprise to find the malts coming through in a smoky, lightly alcoholic undertaste rather than the cloying nastiness that characterizes comparable American brews. Over all, I found Stieglbock to be a nicely warming, drinkable brew. Tmoney99 (4656), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Sep 1, 2007 Bottle from Party Source. Poured a clear amber with an average frothy white head that diminished slowly and produced good lacing. Average sweet malt aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture. Medium sweet malt flavor with a medium sweet finish of average duration. jeverszeuge (182), Germany Aug 25, 2007 orange-amber colour. vanishing head. sweet smell with arome of berries. soft carbonation, sweet but with hops. mid brings more hops and stars to stick the lips together. the end brings hops and in the background malty taste. quite rare and therefore test-worthy. Goodgrief (1144), Middletown, Delaware, USA Aug 15, 2007 June 2005 - Poured nice rich golden brown with decent head and lacing. Has a nice rich "bocky" taste that I’m growing quite fond of. Rich and well balanced. A good showing. stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 27, 2007 Bottle sampled. Pours deep golden/orange with a decent size off-white head. Aroma of fruit, caramel, and sweet malts. The flavor is fruit, sweet, caramel, and finishes mildly bitter. Decent brew. krysztofar (344), belleville, Illinois, USA Jul 14, 2007 500ml. Bright golden caramel color with a tight foamy white head. Fresh and fruity nose with apricot and caramel showing up as well as some faint hops. The body of this beer is pretty full, lots of caramel and mild sweetness are balanced by a slightly yeasty european hop character. like the start more than the finish but this is pretty good stuff and i would drink it again. jefcon (997), Arlington, Virginia, USA Jul 11, 2007 Dark goldish in the glass with a diminishing head. Aromas of grains and malts. I’m surprised that the alcohol is so high. Lots of malt on the flavor, somewhat sweet. Overall, however, a lot of off flavors and some palate problems hurt this one. cthulu81 (29), Woodbridge, Virginia, USA Apr 10, 2007 This will be my first foray intot he brews of the Stiegl family, since the distributor has been out of them since I moved to Virginia. My first choice is the bock, myself being a fan of the fancy European malt likraas. I am looking at deep blonde beauty, from which arises a slightly heavy smell of grain and caramel. Matching toe to tip so far. Expresses the preceived aromas of sweeter malt, a light honeyed glow on the tongue, an apple fad and a smooth, creamy mouthfeel. I have a feeling that if I found this on draft somewhere, things would end up broken, I would end up lost and picture phones would have a video testement of the stupid things people do when they get too drunk off of a tasty, strong lager. It is dee-ricious.
