eaglefan538 (2355), Wilmington, Delaware, USA Jun 2, 2006 This one poured a slightly cloudy color with a small head that laced marginally ok. The mouthfeel was medium bodied and pleasant. Aroma was strong, sweet, bready, yeasty, and caramel-like. Flavor was much of the same with some honey-grassiness prevailing in the malt base. Pretty sweet. Enjoyable, but at this price, I won’t return again. Better imports out there. demitriustown (689), Shelby Township, Michigan, USA Jun 2, 2006 504 liter bottle: Pours a clear golden/orange woth a medium white head. Aroma is soft and sweet with sweet hoppiness, a slight cinnamon note, coriander, citrus fruit (maybe lemon). Taste is heavier than I thought with a medium to full body to it, light fruit, nice hops overtones, and slight Classic German Pilsner twang to it. Palate is slightly sticky, bitter, and acidic. Overall, it’s a nice bock, nice blended flavors, and most of all I liked it! Kevin (1917), Colorado, USA Apr 6, 2006 Clear light orange pour with a large lasting white head. Yeasty cotton candy aroma that implies a sweet beer to come. Really smells like a samiclaus or samael. Lemon meringue flavor that is not as sweet as I expected. A thin watery mouthfeel. Not the appropriate beer for sitting on the banks of the Ohio and watching the tugs, but it will do. A white grape flavor that is close to wine. This is too thin. I should have grabbed a slice of pizza at the joint I passed on my way here, this would be a decent food beer provided it was somewhat flavorful. Much better than the warsteiner I had with lunch. A lingering orange zest flavor with a watered down yeast note.

heykevin (1269), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Feb 14, 2006 Deep golden. Straw, hay, honey and the ghosts of noble hops, touch of melanoidins. Medium-full bodied. Malty, with honey overtones. Traces of oxidation make me wonder the age of this. Still quite good, though the flavor doesn’t live up to the promise of the aroma. frankenkitty (1900), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA Jan 19, 2006 Rating for Stiegl Columbus Bock
Caramel-colored & murky with largish yeast globules. Dry & dusty aroma of caramel malts, honey & sawdust. Caramel & honey show in the malty flavor with alcohol in a honey-smooth mouth. A solid offering for a Bock.

noelcb (271), Toledo, Ohio, USA Jan 17, 2006 Pours medium gold, huge thick foamy white head -- good retention and lace. Aroma not terribly distictive with deep notes of grain, malt, yeast and a hint of floral hops. Flavor is quite good, with an overall herbalness, good hit of chocolatey malt, grain, plenty of yeast, alcohol warmth and hops that are more noble in character than bitter, although there’s enough bitterness and citrusy, grapefruity tartness to keep it from being too sweet. Fairly well-balanced. Good mouthfeel, not thick but certainly not watery, refreshing on the tongue with just enough grip to leave a pleasant aftertaste. biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA Dec 22, 2005 Says 2004 on the label. Delicate floral aroma with strong malt undertones. Cloudy orange with a creamy head. Flavor starts nice and malty but moves to metallic acridness and finishes unpleasantly tart and bitter. This bottle is past its prime and hasn’t been handled well. Too bad, seems like it would be excellent fresh. ogivlado (3036), Zagreb, Croatia Dec 13, 2005 Bottled(500ml). -deep golden coloured, medium white head, bready and slight alcohol aroma with sweet malty notes, slight sweet finish
