green (187), Boston, Massachusetts, USA Apr 6, 2005 Assuming that “Stiegl Columbus Bock” is the American packaging of Stieglbock. These Stiegl product just arrived here and, in their brown bottles, have not noticeable detrimental effects from travel. Rich amber color;minimal head retention. Rather sweet but not cloying. Not big bock flavors but likeable ones. Well balanced and finishes clean. Very enjoyable. The Stiegl beers would be just about perfect “everyday” beers if they were constantly available. mkobes (2103), paramus, New Jersey, USA Mar 5, 2005 0.5 l bottle. Golden in color with a nice white head. Malty sherried aroma. Huge malty flavor. Nice beer. Clean palate. MaiBockAddict (1499), Good Beer Bar Deprived, New Jersey, USA Mar 5, 2005 0.5 l bottle. Golden, white head. Sherried malt aroma. Big malty flavor with sherried notes. I wish I had a fresh bottle, for this would be really nice. But decent as is. Nice clean malty maibock. ChrisPants (317), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Mar 3, 2005 Cidery pour with wispy white foam disappearing before it finds its resting place on the surface. Electric orange, honey aroma. Mouthfeel of substantial carbonation and pleasantly mealy malts. Citrus, honey, and kiwi come through on the semi-sticky finish. Refreshing, with a twang of sour. thegreenrooster (1811), St.louis, Missouri, USA Feb 26, 2005 Pour is a honey looking yellow with a big white head. Aroma is weak but you get some malts in there. Flavor is mildly sweet and sticky malts. Its ok and easy to drink but that’s about it. PierreCelis (14), USA Jan 27, 2005 Nose didn’t quite excite me. Medium body. Malty flavor almost like Malted Milk Balls or a Vanilla Malt. Very well balanced by the slight hoppiness. Yummy! Cornfield (4892), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Jan 6, 2005 My bottle, purchased fresh just before Christmas 2004, looked like the regular Stiegl bottle and read "Stiegl Columbus Original Bock." The abv was the same. It pours a golden color with a slight head that soon haloes the glass. It’s got a mild sweet malt aroma. Medium-bodied with caramel malt flavoring, it has a nice snappy hop counterbalance. Not a bad drink, but really not what I think of when I hear "bock." Kinz (2179), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA Nov 7, 2004 The bottle I saw looked nothing like the one pictured, instead looking more like the traditional label from this brewer. Light amber color, good head. Sweet malt aroma. Flavor matched, a bit caramel, definitely sweet, but also had a green vegetable hop finish. Well made, I’m just not a fan of bock beers.
