| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 9, 2009 Updated: Jan 18, 2009My Bottom Line:
Obvious but simple cereal notes resound over faint herbal hoppiness in this clean and approachable Heller Bock.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam circles the pale blond.
-This is a competent introduction to the style for the masses.
-There is some hop bitterness in the back, but it is rather discreet.
-The mouthfeel is lean and well carbonated.
-Although it’s well crafted, it does get boring after a while.

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 6, 2005 My bottle, purchased fresh just before Christmas 2004, looked like the regular Stiegl bottle and read "Stiegl Columbus Original Bock." The abv was the same. It pours a golden color with a slight head that soon haloes the glass. It’s got a mild sweet malt aroma. Medium-bodied with caramel malt flavoring, it has a nice snappy hop counterbalance. Not a bad drink, but really not what I think of when I hear "bock."
