Commercial Description:
The original Stieglbock is a powerful finely hopped and traditional Bockbier – the Berman term for strong beer – indicating a bottom-fermenting brew from barley malt. Brewed in August, the fermentation process lasts three months which produces a golden color beer with taste and strengths varying from year to year. This beer is perfect for beer lovers who prefer bold types of beer. 16.5 Plato

Bottle 504 ml - vintage 2005 (unfiltered)
Appearance: Thick ,hazed amber brew.
Nose: Malty , fruity rich nose . Sweetness popping trough , grainy ending.
Flavor/Palate : Medium full bodied. Soft textured thanks for being unfiltered. Caramel malty brew that well covered dry alcohol. Not overly complex but with traditional feel. Tasty with late alcohol burn.

This brew poured a small head of quickly disappearing bubbles that left a transparent uncarbonated light yellow orange colored body behind. I thought the color was odd for a bock and rated it thusly. It did have a mild caramel malt aroma and a smooth mouthfeel with a slight hop bite in its finish. Its flavor was a mild malt hop one.

Poured a nice orange-tinted amber with a solid bright white foam head. Big cookie-dough/malty aroma. The flavor on the other hand is distinctly of baked apples. Nice flavorful beer.

Bought a six pack of this stuff one night in salzburg. I was hurting in the morning. Ok appearance- amber color with a slight beige head. Aroma is malt/cereal and grainy as was the taste. Mouthfeel was somewhat smooth but ended up harsh towards the end where th alc. was apparent. Slightly overcarbonated.

500ml bottle from trade with Koelschtrinker - thanks!
Orange, thin head. Slightly lagery bocky aroma. Slightly alcoholic and artificial plasticky taste. Fairly resiny bitter - sticky and more like hop extract than whole hops. Not tasty enough to be a sipper, but not very quaffable either due to the alcohol.

The Rathskeller Wine & Beer Fest:A small sized head with fine sized bubbles. The body was clear with very little carbonation observed. The hue was pale yellow and the nose was somewhat earthy along with a hint of malt. The flavor was hoppy along with an aftertaste and the mouthfeel was tingly on my tongue and medium bodied. There was virtually no lacing with this beer.

Bottle at the Bier Garden in Portsmouth on 4-30-05. Pours clouded bronze. Nose is sweet and malty with big caramel, light chocolate and ripened dark fruits. Taste is thinner than expected with obvious creamy maltiness blended with caramel, honey, chocolate, and dark fruits. Light pumpernickel bread notes throughout. Body is creamy and smooth. Minimal carbonation feel. Finishes with more caramel and malts along with sweet fruits and light chocolate. Nice!
