Commercial Description:
The original Stieglbock is a powerful finely hopped and traditional Bockbier – the Berman term for strong beer – indicating a bottom-fermenting brew from barley malt. Brewed in August, the fermentation process lasts three months which produces a golden color beer with taste and strengths varying from year to year. This beer is perfect for beer lovers who prefer bold types of beer. 16.5 Plato

Rerate Still a solid bock - just a tad less wow this time around. Original 3.9 Found this to be a good solid bock. Has a thick frothy head with great lacing. Aroma - a bit of olive oil oil and a bit of wort - makes a good combination - but on the verge of being cloying. Nice light orange appearance. Crisp, well defined flavor. Slightly salty with some sweet malty undertones. Probably the smoothest bock I have ever had. The 7% ABV is hidden well.

2006 Vintage thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a golden body and a small fading white head. Aroma of alcohol, apple, and honey. Taste is rotten fruits, bread and caramel. Thin body with light bubbles.

330ml green bottle from Meinl am Graben, Wien. Poured a fast fading white head. Clear golden body colour. Sweet fruity nose. Flavoured with pears, light hops and a touch of sweet malts. Hidden alcohol. Roundd mouthfeel and rather well bodied (03.12.2007).

50cl bottle, with 2006 printed on the label - if that’s the date this was bottled, this has held up fairly well - hazy gold, fails to kick up much of a head - aroma of dough, diacetyl, fig, raisin, date, some light oxidation and acidity - medium sweet, creamy body - a little metallic/oxidized character, but otherwise the age doesn’t show (if it is that old, which I doubt) - a fairly tasty mixture of fig, date, honey - there is an odd bitterness that arrives late that doesn’t work too well - decent none-the-less.

Brown bottle with a green label instead of this black one in the picture. Pours light amber color with a fluffy tan head that stays for about half of the glass. Constant carbonation rises to the top. Aroma is mostly sweet malts a little bread aroma from the yeast. Flavor is mostly malt a taste of caramel. I detect a touch of spice though and it is overall fairly sweet. On the palate it is thick enough for the style but still very carbonated and light. Good bock one of the better that I’ve had this season.

Rich golden color, medium head. very carbonated. Really thick sweet malt taste. Luckily as it warmed, some nice bitter hop flavor popped out to save it. I wouldn’t want more than one of these at a sitting, one was just enough.

This one poured a slightly cloudy color with a small head that laced marginally ok. The mouthfeel was medium bodied and pleasant. Aroma was strong, sweet, bready, yeasty, and caramel-like. Flavor was much of the same with some honey-grassiness prevailing in the malt base. Pretty sweet. Enjoyable, but at this price, I won’t return again. Better imports out there.
