COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The original Stieglbock is a powerful finely hopped and traditional Bockbier – the Berman term for strong beer – indicating a bottom-fermenting brew from barley malt. Brewed in August, the fermentation process lasts three months which produces a golden color beer with taste and strengths varying from year to year. This beer is perfect for beer lovers who prefer bold types of beer. 16.5 Plato

Pours a lovely golden-orange color with small, quickly dissipating white head. Nice carbonation. Sweet, malty flavor with some fruity notes. Palate a bit thin in the finish. Overall, a nice bock, though not perhaps an outstanding one.

Bready aroma with a floral, fresh fruit salad character that is pleasantly inviting. Clear, deep, golden body is topped by a low, large bubbled white head that recedes to a lasting cover. Very fruity flavour has underlying bready malt character and fair finishing bitterness. Dry medium body, with crisp, fine bubbled, pointy carbonation that engages the tongue. Lager glass. Just above fridge temperature. Bottle (State Line Liquors, MD, Oct-05).

Rating for Stiegl Columbus Bock

Caramel-colored & murky with largish yeast globules. Dry & dusty aroma of caramel malts, honey & sawdust. Caramel & honey show in the malty flavor with alcohol in a honey-smooth mouth. A solid offering for a Bock.

504 liter bottle: Pours a clear golden/orange woth a medium white head. Aroma is soft and sweet with sweet hoppiness, a slight cinnamon note, coriander, citrus fruit (maybe lemon). Taste is heavier than I thought with a medium to full body to it, light fruit, nice hops overtones, and slight Classic German Pilsner twang to it. Palate is slightly sticky, bitter, and acidic. Overall, it’s a nice bock, nice blended flavors, and most of all I liked it!

Pours a deep rich golden color with a small light yellow/tan head. Heavily sweet aromas of molassas, with a hint of malt and touch of floral hops. Smooth on the tongue, with a light initial sweetness, followed by hint of hops. In the finish it hit you with just tons of malt and an undercoating of warming alcohol. A fine helles bock, perfect for a fall afternoon.

The body is dark gold and clear. The aroma is bready with walnuts and some earthy moss. There is also a little bit of dry apple cider. The taste is slightly spicy mushrooms. There is also some cherry pit character. This is relativly dry.

Bottle at the Bier Garden in Portsmouth on 4-30-05. Pours clouded bronze. Nose is sweet and malty with big caramel, light chocolate and ripened dark fruits. Taste is thinner than expected with obvious creamy maltiness blended with caramel, honey, chocolate, and dark fruits. Light pumpernickel bread notes throughout. Body is creamy and smooth. Minimal carbonation feel. Finishes with more caramel and malts along with sweet fruits and light chocolate. Nice!

Bottle: Golden hue with fizzy mostly fading head and good lace. The arom has notes of caramel and toasty malts, ripen pear, floral hops, and earthy yeast esters. The taste starts malty with major caramel overtones. A crisp bitterness and yeast tones on finish. The feel is lively and crisp with a earthy finish. Overall, I would say this is very true to style and very quaffable.
