3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle on the Black Country Train Tasting Part I, 06/07/13, thanks to Luca for trading me this one in Roma.
Hazed golden orange with a thin off white head.
Nose is lemon rind, spice, bitter orange, yeast notes.
Taste comprises floral tones, farmy, yeast esters, bitter orange, hops in the background, lemon rind.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, crisp dry finish.
Decent saison - don’t see why this one needed to go into the silly veg category !

Black Country Beano. Outbound train tasting! Light haze, good off white head. Light airy palate. Fine carbonation. Good floral flavour. Light citrus. Light creamy malt. Light soft finish. A lovely soft floral beer and by far the best thing I have had from Stilwater.

330 mL bottle from Common Market Charlotte. Best by 1.2014. Gusher. Pours a very hazy orange color with some floating particles. Large white head, decent head retention. Aroma of bready malts, sugared fruits, caramel, spice, floral notes, earth. The taste is pale malts, spice, pepper, stone fruits, herbal finish. Fairly dry, medium bodied, lingering spice. Nice.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
330mL from El Cerrito. Full haze, murky glowing dark peach pour. Healthy white foam with beautiful thick, webby lacing. Nose is heavier peaches and cream, rich vanilla ice cream. Taste is not thick or yeasty as looks. Brighter, clean body with prickly carbonation. No peppercorn really, hints of vinegar. Not sure what myrrh tastes like. Dry mouthfeel with leafy spices. Quite a lot of grassy hop and oatmeal/pilsner malt balance.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Medium, yellowish head, quite even, over faintly veiled orange beer. Hops in the nose, but also something fish-y. Bit of lunaria, (non-sweet) stonafruit. Spicy, rootspices, restrained bitterness with both hoppy and spicy components. Aromatic flavour, nowhere exaggerated, finishing peppery, intriguing. Bit soapy, lavender. The myrrh tincture in my cabinet is pretty different, however. Spritzy carbonation, somewhat burning feel. Medium bodied at best. Interesting, different, not forced. Now what has the Tower of Babel to do with this beer? Mind you, my Hebrew is a tad rusty...

Really nice unique and spicy saison that is dry refreshing and crisp with lots of spicy peppery undertones. Enjoyable beer but at this price I probably wont buy again.
