Pours gold into a snifter. White head with good retention recedes to hug rim. Sweet herb aromas. Dry with caramel and hay upfront turning to a mild peppercorn finish.

Slightly fruity nose with pepper and hay, very herbal. taste is fairly dry, light honey and pear, fresh herbs and flowers. Fishes with a menthol-like szechuan peppercorn note. The peppercorn is obvious, without being obnoxious. Well done.

Draught at Mi & Ti, Milan
Cloudy golden color with creamy head. It has a strong and very nice aroma, spicy and with sweet oranges; fresh and fruity (8.5). Good body, also because of a moderate residual sweetness; malt flavor, delicate spices, light fruitiness (oranges and apricots), light astringency; fresh, balanced and with a good degree of complexity.

330ml bottle from OB, Sydney. A fine Saison style ale from Italy (with help from US) with a noticeable spicy presence (peppers mainly) on top of straw, citrus, grains and floral elements. Taste is quite bitter and earthy dry with a slick medium bodied palate and lively carbonation. Appears hazy amber with a large lingering white head that laces the glass nicely. On a par with Belgiumís finest.

Pepper and phenolic aroma. Pale gold with slight haze. Big white frothy head. Pepper dominates with lingering bitterness. Alcohol warmth present. Medium body with fizzy caronation on tongue - refreshing. One on the better farmhouse ales

Bottle from City Beer. Pours hazy yellow with a decent off-white head and a fruity aroma. There is a mild fruity flavor with more hoppiness than usual and a tart finish.

Bottle shared by Marcus. Pours hazy gold with a creamy white head. Aroma is earthy/yeasty. Med body. Flavor is earthy with some phenolics. Interesting flavors that are difficult to parse. Drinks well.

Pours a light yellow gold color. A bit hazy, though thereís a good amount of lees on the bottom of my bottle, so this is dependent on the pour. Relatively small white head. Lots of little bubbles. The aroma is a bit heavy on the somewhat medicinal myrrh flavor. The yeast might be contributing to that flavor, as well. It was quite pleasant initially, when the beer was colder, and the aroma was woodier, but as the beer warmed, the medicinal side became more prominent and started to push out the fruity peppercorn notes. The peppercorn provides a very nice fruity pepper flavor. Thereís some pale malt in the background, but it gets overshadowed by the spicing. Nice pale malt sweetness in the taste. The spices kick in quickly. Again, I really like the fruity Szechuan peppercorn flavor, and the myrrh is nice but a bit too medicinal for my taste. That said, this is a beer that Iím really going back and forth on. Iím sort of splitting the difference with my scores, but I do very much appreciate the thought behind it. At any rate, the finish is dry and fairly bitter. Thereís a bit of citrus kicking in at that point, as well. Nice mouthfeel. Carbonation is slightly low for a saison. Personally, Iíd prefer things to be even lighter. Anyway, itís another nice Stillwater beer and further shows Strumkeís thoughtful approach to the style.

Very good as a standalone saison -- plenty of heft, malt and yeast. A little hot for saison, however. The alcohol is rough, it detracts from the balance of the beer, and although I enjoyed the aromas and flavors of the beer very much, it left a little to be desired in terms of the soft touch that can make saison really rustic and great.

33cl bottle. Pours a very nice golden colour, a hint of cloudiness, clean white foam. Aroma is mostly lemony, peppery, very elegant. Taste is bittersweet, peppery again, with a nice balsamic note. Light body, medium carbnation and hidden alcohol presence. Strange and interesting one.
