3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing.
Body is hazy dark yellow, bottle conditioned.
Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly hoppy (herbs), lightly yeasty (cobwebs), with notes of camphor, sage, band-aid, lemon oil, alcohol.
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately to heavily bitter.
Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic.
Kind of an oddball but I guess that can be expected of many beers with herb/spice adjuncts. Itís not too obnoxious with the obvious added ingredients, though they are still the most prominent things about the aroma. Itís a bit overboard in the mouth, though, especially considering the medium level alcohol content...it comes off more like an 8 to 9% beer; lots of sugar, lots of finishing bitterness (probably helped by the spices), and lots of apparent booze. But like a lot of Belgian-style brews with those characteristics, still not a lot of body. So I dunno...itís not bad, but itís very hard to get excited about it, mostly for subjective reasons.

Bottle. Hazy gold, light clarity. Aroma is herbal spice and hints of funky. Th flavor is just as herbal as the aroma would indicate. Itís almost like drinking potpourri in a chilled glass. Very spice finish. Ummmm, no cant really stomach this.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
33 cl bottle poured into a brandy snifter. The beer is a pretty cleat gold color with a white head of foam. Decent retention. The aroma has peppercorns and a subtle hot pepper character, like a habanero, without the heat. Vegetal, I suppose. The peppercorn is the dominant characteristic. Bigger body and medium carbonation. Sticky mouthfeel. A touch of oxidation, but I guess that could be the peppercorns as well.

330ml bottle served in a pint glass. A: Pours a very cloudy dark yellow color forming a big and creamy white head with good retention and some soapy lacings left in the glass. Very spicy and flowery nose. S: Strong notes of sweet grains and American style hops: a mix of grassy, citrus and piny hops. Some notes of honey, wheat and sweet bread. Fruity with some hints of pepper. T: Slightly sweet upfront. Quite spicy and hoppy beer in the mouth too. Strong notes of sweet pale malts, wheat, grapes, grapefruit, pine, pepper, honey and sweet bread. In overall, taste is dry and hops bitterness very present and persistent. M: Medium creamy body. Average carbonation. Persistent citric hops aftertaste. O: Excellent drinkability. Great Saison.
