33cl bottle. Pours a slightly cloudy golden color with a short, fizzy white head. Aroma of light fruits, some nice barnyard funk, mint, some earthy spices and lemon. Taste is fruity and spicy upfront with some caramel and sweet bread flavor. A touch of funkiness and citrus round things out. Medium to light body with high carbonation.

TAR (2474) - Lafayette, Colorado, USA - DEC 26, 2012
Honey gold. Ornately lathery foam cakes the glass with beautiful white lace. Exuberantly rustic aromatics of plasticlike phenolics, cobwebs, white pepper, lemon zest, grassy-herbal hops, plaster, mint, mild gum. Hint of pear and lots of alcohol. Soft, expansive carbonation. Brisk, dry and explosively phenolic with an ensuing surge of alcoholic potency. Semi-slick with an apple-like chamomile quality that gives way to a cakey fullness reminiscent of lightly frosted vanilla cake. Dries out quickly, however, as the exquisitely layered hoppiness illuminates the clean attenuation, which showcases an obligatory balance between succulence and dryness. Delightfully dusty yeast continually draws you in for another sip as it charms and allures with its rustic cobweb character and plentitude of idiosyncrasies which run the gamut from gum to white pepper and plaster. Mild lemony twang also greatly augments drinkability. Finishes peppy in its hoppy dryness which contributes a grassy sharpness and appetizing peppery notes. Drinking this immediately brings to mind Blaugies Saison d’Épeautre, which is a huge compliment considering it might just be my favorite yeast out there. Might be just a tad sharp with alcohol, and a tab slippery, but it’s fantastically dusty, rustic, and otherwise clean, just the way saison ought to be. But the $8 per 375mL price tag means I won’t be stashing this in the basement.

Bottle. Pours hazy orange/amber with thick, frothy off-white head; good retention and lacing. Aroma is lemon, biscuit and cookie malt, grassy hops, herbs, pineapple, honey, and barnyard notes. Flavor is citrus fruit esters, herbs, citrus and grassy hops, and light sweet malts; dry, light citrus finish. Medium body and high carbonation.

Bottle: pours cloudy pale golden, bubbly white head. Funk, barnyard, smoke, roasty, hay, apricot, lemon and esters on the nose. Wheat, esters, pale malts, woody notes and an interesting cereal component that helps dry out the finish. This grew on me and is quite light bodied and drinkable.

375ml bottle in a tulip. Pours hazy golden with a fluffy, off-white head. Aroma of spicy yeast, some caramel and grainy malts, plus a little bit of floral hops. Flavor the same, with an interesting mix of malts to go with the spiciness of the yeast. Average to smooth texture. An interesting beer.

A - Pours a hazy golden-orange with a big finger of frothy off-white head. The head fades down very slowly leaving behind some nice lacing. S - Aroma is a mix of Belgian yeast, coriander and other spices, some orange peel, lemon zest, funk, and some grainy malts. T - Starts off with a mix of grainy malts, orange peel, lemon zest, coriander, and some other spices. Through the middle, some funk comes through with some Belgian yeast, and a bit of sweet bready malts. The finish is a mix of sweet grainy malts, Belgian yeast, funk, some spices, some floral hops character, and some spices. M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a dry, spicy, and funky finish. D - Very drinkable. Nice overall balance. Good yeast character.

Orange hazy and white lace. Spices, lemony, wheat and sharp. Taste is better, some spices and citric hops. Fresh and well drinkable. Decent brew. (At Colin’s De Molen tasting)

Bottle at the De Molen second Tuesday tasting. Poured a cloudy straw colour with a thin white head. The aroma is weak dry and malty. The flavour is bitter and spicy with fruity notes, but that was all up front and the aftertaste was quite weak and watery. Not a favourite.

Bottle. Cork released with loud bang and a small gusher. Pours eventually a clear golden color with a white head. Aroma is yeasty, wheat and some lemon. Flavor is medium bitter, zest and lemon. Nothing too special here, yet a decent brew.
