FlacoAlto (3810) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - MAR 10, 2013
A steady pour into my Teku glass produces a four finger thick, and rising, pale tan colored head that would have overflowed my glass if I didn’t choose to eat it instead. The beer is a metallic seeming gold color that shows a brilliantly clear, bright yellow gold hue when held up to the light. The aroma smells of bright fruit and dried hay; specific notes of pear, floral apple, hibiscus, nutty pale malt, pale wheat cracker, and some melon like notes.

Effervescent, which pairs well with the light body, dry, which still can’t suppress the bright fruit notes, and quite complex, with a mélange of flavors, this beer is my idea of a Saison. The grain character has a nice, dried straw like character to it, a soft cracker like malt note, and this mixes with a light herbal character, perhaps a touch of lemon zest, or citrus character, and grassy hop notes. The yeast character contributes a soft clove character, a slight mustiness, some woody black pepper, a touch of ginger character.

This is quite nice, not the most complex Saison, but it definitely hits the spot.

(Bottle,0.375 l - BBE info was way too well hidden, at Stadin Panimobaari, 20150502) The beer poured amber and clear. Its head was white and quite large. Aroma had fruitiness, citricness and Belgian style yeast. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, Belgian style yeast, citricness and bitterness. Aftertaste was yeasty and bitter. A decen Belgian style brew.

Pours cloudy golden amber with tall, frothy white head. Aroma of yeast, honey, wheat, banana. Taste is sweetish with a funky finish. Body is light and smooth with soft carbonation, almost a bit creamy.

ninecats (285) - Uddevalla, SWEDEN - APR 23, 2015
Semi-clear golden, gigantic white head dissipating slowly leaving lots of lacings. Yeasty, citrusy tones with hints of banana, coriander, grass, dust. Taste is moderately bitter, sweet malt notes, slight citrus, going into more peppery tones, ends bitter with a dominating grainy, spelty, peppery lingering finish. Medum body, high carbo. Works. The lingering grainy pepperness in the finish was a bit dominating though.

The cork popped like nothing I’ve ever seen before. Pours murky brown with a white head. Aroma of dry funk, hay, barnyard, coriander, sweeter esters, weak orange and nice pear. The taste is dry and funky with nice farmhouse notes. Hay, barnyard, funky brett, pear, sweeter esters, grains and weak citrus. Good and refreshing!

Vestergaard (698) - Aarhus C, DENMARK - APR 23, 2015
Bottle, 37,5cl. Pours a dirty, not so pretty amber with a big, white head. The pressure in the bottle was crazy! as soon as the cage was loosened, the cork exploded with crazy speed. Oh well, aroma is not as crazy. Very funky, dirty barnyard with spelt, pilsner malts and just a lot of grains. Slightly acidic stuff. Taste is very dry. Not too sour, but extremely funky, dirty and grainy. Dry and pretty light in general. Not all that exiting, but not too bad either. High carb and light body.

SamTheBarrel (544) - Vallentuna, SWEDEN - APR 19, 2015
750ml brown 2015 years vintage bottle with a cap, poured into a Tulip glass. Appearance is hazy orange with a large frothy off-white head that reduced quickly, leaving lacing on the glass. Aroma of lemon zest, herbs, orange peels and a hint of barnyard. Flavours of orange peels, herbs, lemon zest, wheat bread, caramel and spices. Taste is light-medium sweet, medium bitter and just slightly sour. Palate is medium bodied, soft texture and average carbonation. Overall this is a great flavorful beer.

Beatiful, hazy, golden beer with a two finger high head. Nose: Belgian yeast, malt, peach, apple, hay and grass. Taste: Lemon zest, pear, apple, flower, yeast, spice grass and hops. Body: Medium body with crisp carbonation. Dry ending. A great, tasty farmhouse Ale!
