Krampusnacht special. Dark black pour with nice khaki ring. Coffee, vanilla, Belgian yeast, smoke, booze. The taste has a smoked malt front but relaxes into a more bittersweet chocolate taste. Dark fruits, raisins. Harshish herbal finish. Interesting stuff. Awesome name and label are a plus too.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz bottle. Bottled on 10/8/13. Poured cool, not cold and let come up in temperature. Pleasant aromas of dried dark fruit, vanilla extract, spice, and nutty roasted malt, with hints of chocolate and mild coffee. Very nice, elegant aromas. Fine, tingly, medium-plus carbonation, medium body and a dry, mouthwatering finish that sets it apart from other sweet domestic stouts. Distinct overtones of chocolate, roasted coffee beans, cinnamon spice and ash, with subtle undertones of dark, dried fruit (prunes, raisins). Overall, another solid offering from Stillwater. A good Belgian Stout? ..that is a step more American, then Belgian. IMO a lighter, drier, mouthwatering, Speedway Stout. Good stuff. I want more!

750mL bottle. Pours black with a huge brown head. Over carbonated. It gushed when the bottle was opened and when poured ¾ of the glass was head. Roasted malt, earth notes, dry finish, slightly tart.

12 oz bottle. Pour is black. Lively head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, earthy, and hints of smoke and phenolic spice. Flavor is more of the same. Flavorful but not overly intense. Body is on the lighter side but very drinkable. Smooth finish.

This rich brownish black beer has a very strong coffee aroma and flavor. When we poured it it was like 95% head. We waited and let it settle. It was better in the second pour.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Beermongers. Colour....basic black with a thick off white head. Nose...quite Belgian-y! Thereís also orchard fruits and yeasty bits. Palate...tangy and again, Belgian-y! Rather sweet with chicory, Lindt sweet dark chocolate, fig paste and dark raisins, plums and anise. Certainly a stout and certainly....well...,Belgian-y!

12oz bottle, from Party Source. Bottled 10/08/13. Shared with Taylor. Clear very dark brown / red color, near-black. Minimal off-white head, dots of lace. Medium to bigger body. Lightly slick body. Lighter, crisp carbonation. Nose has a surprising amount of dark fruit, light spice. From the smell itís kind of like a foreign stout, or belgian style stout... But the taste is surprisingly tart. Duh, should have expected Stillwater to pull something like this. Tart taste, light sour, kind of spicy. Moderate bitter, some dark chocolate. Not too chewy of a texture, a little thin. Solid, interesting stout. Fruity and tart, but still nice, roasty, and robust. Interesting, yeah, but right now I think Iíd have preferred a more traditional, full-bodied stout. Hint of licorice.. As far as sour stouts go, this one might be missing something
