On tap at Blue Monk in Buffalo, NY. Pours a nice clear golden yellow, pale white head. Listed as a saison but extremely boozy for the style...the Belgian Strong Ale style seems more apt. Heavy on the Belgian spice. Another nice American-Belgian from Stillwater.

Pours hazy light golden, slight creamy head, lots of lacing. Aroma tropical fruit, slight bubblegum and phenolic esters, slight pilsner malt sweetness, a hint of spicy noble hops. Taste tropical and stone fruits, sweet bready malt, slight balancing bitterness, phenolic and bubblegum esters. Mouthfeel fuller dude of medium body, medium carbonation, slight hop astringency, finish on the dry side of balanced. Overall tasty, has all the elements of the style, nothing stands out, I like the added bitterness this beer has.

21.05.2014, 0,35l bottle @ home:
Nice creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is mild floral, flowers, yeast, bubblegum, citrus peel, weeds, hay, washwater, wheat, dried fruits. Taste is slightly harsh floral, weeds, flowers, yeast, citrus peel, hay, dried fruits, washwater, grass, wheat, bubblegum, cardboard. Medium bitterness, slightly dry harsh mouthfeel. Not my cup of tea.

Pours a clear pale yellow with a small white head. Fruity, estery aroma with hints of spices on the nose. Some hay and earthy notes as well. Taste is moderate sweet with a light bitter touch into the aftertaste. Full body with average levels of co2.

Draft at Rocketcity Brewfest. Light yellow with thin head. Aroma of yeast funkyness, banana, clove. Light body, banana, clove, grain, and a sweet finish. No real noticeable alcohol.

On tap at Garden Cafe on Broadway. Nice aroma but perhaps not memorable. Nice opacity. Taste is stellar, with a nice hint of coriander that’s not overpowering. Palate is rather cleaner than I expected. Overall a stellar go-to beer.

Tap at Haymarket (thought it was a one-off). Hazy yellow tan. Has that Pils look in a way. Steady, foamy, off-white head. Not sure what to think of this one. High fermentation temperatures notes, odd, funky, borderline off. Kind of tastes like a juiced imperial pils. Some mild but sweet banana clove notes. Mild and wacky herbal tones. Not dialed in, an odd beer. Certainly has some nice Belgian yeast tones and a pleasant noble hop balance, but this just doesn’t come together. Not commanding the premium price. Herbal saison-tripel-golden. Unique, almost has an old school belgo-feel, which I can appreciate. Grew on me a little.

Bottle. Inviting apricot aroma.Lots of fruit, apricots, peaches, grapefruit. Sweetness that slowly slides into bitterness. Clever.

Bottle. Hazy golden yellow pour with a smaller white head. Clove and yeast, fruity esters, and a bit of hop zing late. Good carbonation and a touch dry late. Really nice.

Bottle from Whole Foods Westlake, Seattle; bottled 12/13/13
Hazy golden color with medium sized creamy head. Aroma of pale malt, soap, plastic, spices; why the soap and plastic?
Smooth mouthfeel; pale malt flavor with a light cereal tone, light residual sweetness, and evident spice profile, although it takes a bad turn, with evidence of anise and soap; bitterness just a bit above the Belgian average.
In my book, another fake Belgian beer, or a pure American style that I don’t fancy. I’m glad I didn’t pay much for it.
