Pour was chestnut brown, thin head, weak lacing. Aroma was strong bourbon, vanilla, oak. The flavor followed, chocolate fully in there, bourbon perhaps of jack daniels instead (now that the write up mentions that). Mouthfeel was full, shy of sticky sticky, though. An ok brew, nothing great about it.

Not sure I have ever had a Belgian style stout in a bourbon barrel before. Its a very enjoyable combination however the bourbon notes far outweigh the subtle characteristics of this beer. I appreciate the attempt however I feel the bourbon barrels flavors overpowered the subtle dark sourness, chocolate licorice notes that the original folklore contained and the red wine barreled edition enhanced. All in all I enjoyed the beer but feel for the money I would rather just purchase the original folklore.
