COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
over the ages the term ’cellar door’ has numerously been referred to as the most beautiful term in the English language. upon setting out to create the first summer addition to the Stateside line up of ales; the feeling that almost instantly came to me was that of beauty & cleansing. many summer offerings tend to lack the complexity of their bigger, colder season counterparts; so my goal was to craft an ale of extreme balance with a delicate complexity that allows for contemplation while also providing quaffable refreshment. starting with a base of German wheat & pale malts this crisp slightly hazy foundation was then accented with a blend of Sterling & Citra hops providing a intricate blend of herbal grass & tangerine citrus flavors and aroma. to pull this all together and to complete the ’cleansing’ aspect of my vision i gently finished the ale off with a touch of white sage, lending a mild earthy spice character to the blend. of course let’s not forget our house saison yeast that brought all the elements together leaving a dry yet intricate finish. enjoy, b.

Bottle in my hotel room in Vegas. Pour is hazy honey-colored in appearance with a huge white head and great lacing. Aroma is big spice - coriander, clove, white pepper, biscuity, straw, somewhat tangy, a touch of sage, lemon rind, and wheat. Taste is coriander, oregano, tangy, citrusy, biscuity, oaky, hay, somewhat wheaty, and earthy with a bug spicy finish. Mouthfeel is medium with high carbonation. Well-balanced, spicy, tangy, and refreshing. Nice beer.

Har en lys, gylden og skyete opptreden i glasset. Aroma av gress og funky gjær. Smaken lett og fin, forfriskende og sommerlig. Også et lite aspekt av salive og jord. Kanskje litt overkarbonert, ellers veldig fin.

UPDATED: MAY 6, 2013 Pours hazy yellow with a orange faint hue. Aroma is sage, lemon, and definitely a spicy strain of saison yeast. Taste is very dry, effervescent, lemon peel, sage and I taste faint corriander and ginger (maybe the sage makes me think this...who knows). Well done beer. Very obvious saison malt base to this one and clearly this is a spicier strain of belgian yeast that what is typically used in other types of saisons. Well done beer, as usual from Stillwater.

Poured into a tulip. Has a huge frothy head that quickly turns into a single finger. The sage is present right in the nose along with the Belgian aromas I expect in a saison. The sage melds into the bready freshness o the beer and makes for a superb drinking experiance. Really like this beer.

Pours a opaque glowing yellow with a good two finger head. Smells of the sage and nice bread and citrus. Taste is where is shines. Slightly sour citrus with a little funky twist. Nice carbonation and dry finish. Thanks Nick!

Bomber - gigantic head on this one. I had to wait five minutes to pour more beer into the glass. Super cloudy. Has a strong lemony scent and a funky farmhouse taste. The mouthfeel is smooth and the finish is a little sour and dry but ok. Pretty good brew.

Tastes of grass, orange and earth. It was pretty subdued though. Good but not great. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22 ounce bomber bottle. Appearance was cloudy and tinted white-orange-yellow. Aroma was a combination of bread, yeast, and minor amounts of citrus. Taste was earthy, oranges, and a handful of spices reminiscent of herbal tea. Palate was a light, dry, a bit chalky. It had some texture without getting bloated - it was as crisp and refreshing as you would want in witbier. Overall, this one is a solid beer to start with because it’s tame (in a good way) and the flavors don’t pounce on you. Your tastebuds have to do some hunting for all the elements in play, and your senses will still be in good shape to drink something next that’s darker and bolder.
