starting with a base of German wheat & pale malts this crisp slightly hazy foundation was then accented with a blend of Sterling & Citra hops providing a intricate blend of herbal grass & tangerine citrus flavors and aroma. to pull this all together and to complete the ’cleansing’ aspect of my vision i gently finished the ale off with a touch of white sage, lending a mild earthy spice character to the blend. of course let’s not forget our house saison yeast that brought all the elements together leaving a dry yet intricate finish.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy straw color with a thick white head and lots of bubbles. Citrus aroma. Citrus comes through in the flavor with a nice balance of malt and hop. Really carbonated though which is distracting. Pretty light and refreshing. Not my favorite style but I’d drink this one again.

Bottle pour into Goblet. Aroma has hay and herbs with an indistinct citrus overlay. Appearance is bright amber, golden with a decent white head, slight lacing that doesn’t linger. Taste is lightly bitter, with a hint of sweetness and lasting grapefruit flavor. Texture is thin and carbonation is visible and fizzy. Finish is astringent and dry. Would be an enjoyable summer beer, alas it is still winter here. This is a pretty solid farmhouse but a bit rough around the edges.

Fluffy white head, 3 fingers in depth. Translucent and pale straw yellow in color. Aroma is citrus and sage. Taste of sage is overpowering and it has a weird aftertaste. Really not liking this one.

Poured from bottle into teku glass. Pours honey yellow and translucent with a sparse white foam head. The nose shows mostly honey, herbs, and some slight hints of citrus fruits with the distinct barnyard/farmhouse aroma. The palate is medium bodied. The first impressions shows mostly spices and herbs along with the bitterness that follows for some of those herbs (not from the hops). The farmyard flavor tends play a role in the background of these spices. The finish shows very faint hints of malts but the mid-palate shows a spiciness that tends to last too long afterwards. Not many fruit flavors just a lot of the spices and herbs that take center stage making it somewhat difficult to approach.

A big surprise. Poured a golden yellow with a white laced head. Smooth and full bodied taste with the slight earthy taste if safe complementing the floral and grass hops. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Lovely subtle and intricate flavours of citrus, herbal, slight banana, and Stillwater’s saison yeast. Would rate this a lot higher if it wasn’t for the over-pronounced sweetness. It’s not a cloying sweetness but is mainly evident on the midpalate. I’ve found a few of Stillwater’s saisons are just slightly too sugary and overbearing in comparison to the other delicate flavours in the beers. I guess the head brewer has a sweet tooth!

From notes. Tasted on 10/21/12 from a capped 750mL bottle. Pours cloudy yellow with a thick white head that slowly recedes to fairly thick, even lace. The nose is straightforward wit with light malt and plenty of spice. The flavor is quite spicy, not much malt, a solid example of the style, but not terribly interesting. The body is light with overactive carbonation and a medium spiced finish.
