starting with a base of German wheat & pale malts this crisp slightly hazy foundation was then accented with a blend of Sterling & Citra hops providing a intricate blend of herbal grass & tangerine citrus flavors and aroma. to pull this all together and to complete the ’cleansing’ aspect of my vision i gently finished the ale off with a touch of white sage, lending a mild earthy spice character to the blend. of course let’s not forget our house saison yeast that brought all the elements together leaving a dry yet intricate finish.

(bottle - 750 ml) Mildly hazy amber with a nice and fizzy white foam. Aroma is light wheat, mild spice, and a huge amount of sage. I couldn’t stop smelling this one for quite a while. Thanksgiving in a glass. The sage and spice flavors pack quite the punch at the beginning of the flavor. Earthy hops and dry malts come through slightly near the middle and leave a very spicy and savory aftertaste. Outstanding in my opinion.

Bottle from Corridor Wine and Spirits. Pours amber with a white head. Aroma of spice and Belgian esters. Lighter side of medium bodied with a refreshing mouthfeel. Flavor of pale Belgian wheat malts, with lots of citrusy bitterness. The orange and coriander come out as you approach the finish. Comes across as a hoppy ass wit, with a little Saison mixed in. Good beer.

(Draught at Pikkulintu, 20111113) The beer poured golden and hazy. Its head was medium sized, dense and white, and it disappeared quickly. Aroma had coriander, citricness, hops and fruitiness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were spices, coriander, hops, saltiness, fruitiness, sweetness and quite low bitterness. Aftertaste was spicy and bitter. Very spicy for a wit but not a bad beer.

Draught @ Pikkulintu, Helsinki

Pours dark yellow with a huge foamy head that disappears quickly. Aroma has notes of fruits, orange, citrus, spices, hops and coriander. Taste is quite fruity and malty with some notes of orange and citrusy hops. Smooth, full bodied and fruity finish. Nice fruity and hoppy wit done the American way.

750ml bottle, dated 2011. Labeled an American Farmhouse Ale, I drank this thinking it was a Saison, so I’m surprised to see it listed as a Belgian Wit here. Fresh, fruity, citric aroma, full of tropical fruit character, very lightly sweet and malty, some faintly hoppy aspects as well, with notes of light honey, lemon, dough and grain. Hazy golden color with a foamy, lasting head and very nice lacing. Flavor is sweet, malty, fruity and very lightly bitter, with mild pepper, yeast esters, citrus, melon and pear, along with a lightly spicy, peppery note on the finish. Very effervescent, light and almost fluffy on the palate, body, however, is medium-full. This was enjoyable. Thanks to Chris for cracking this, I’m sorry if you didn’t get to try any of it, man.

750ml. bottle Purchased @ Carl’s Meat market, Kittery, ME. $10.99. Cloudy yellow with fluffy head that floats on top. Flavor of sage, spices, pepper, pale malts, wheat and lemon. Medium-bodied, with a spicy, tingly mouthfeel. Very dry finish. This was a big letdown after the last Stillwater I drank. For the money I could get a much better brew. I think the combo of spices turns me off. Meh.

Hazy orange golden layered color/ off white head. Citrusy tart wheat, lemongrass, tangerine, pale malt aromas. Light frothy mouthfeel. Nice citrus orange, lemongrass, tart wheat, herbal mint, dry spice flavors--very good.
