3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap @ Mikkeller Bar, Cph.
Pours muddy pale yellow with a small, white, staying head. Aroma is sweet, malty, a hint of sulphur, oranges and white pepper. Medium to high carbonation, light and fine dry mouthfeel with some creaminess. Flavour has lots of white pepper, sweet crisp malts, thyme, doughy, some roses. Delicious sweet balance. Rather lovely.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
750ml bottle from K&L. Bright clear golden pour with a huge white head and thick lacing. Nice funky peppery aroma with hints of sweet malt. A little fruity. The flavor is not quite as good as the aroma, but still nice. Something floral, hibiscus or elderflower maybe (nah I have no clue) with pale malt, herbal notes, funk, and spice. A little off on the funkiness but still pretty tasty. Medium body with high carbonation and a lively mouthfeel. Not Stillwater’s best but still very solid.

(Bottle thanks to dickinsonbeer, party downstairs at Falling Rock) clearish gold/yellow with soapy bubbles. Nose of citrus, sage, mild funky, herbal and oranges. Taste is dry, unsweet, herbal, sage, mushrooms and grassy. Well carbonated, oily but dry finish.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, shared among the attendees of VANØ Bergen’s Påskekro ("Easter Pub"), Easter 2011. Another big bottle from Stillwater, wrapped in mystique and exquisite labeling. I was not impressed by the last bottle I had from this brewery, but let’s give ’em another go. :-) Pours a clear orange body with a medium white head. Nose is saison yeast (which reminds me a lot of champagne yeast) grapes and citric hints. Taste is pale malts, citric tones, hay, chalk, sour grapes and a slight grassy touch. Nice blend, and complex enough, but this beer still ultimately fails to impress me utterly. I’m not giving up Stillwater yet, though.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
0.75l bottle shared @ Henrik VANØ-Bergen session. Pours a deep hazy honey-orange body with a small lasting white head. Aroma is citric-hopy, yeast, apples, some spices and straw. Body is medium and quite slick on the palate. Carbonation is medium. Flavors are grapes, non-sugared sweet rhubarb(if that exist) and some thin spices. The whole thing finishes in a acidic and citric lime- and spicy ending, leaving a dry sweetness and actually some warming alcohol in the aftertaste. Really balanced and nice american saison.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
750 ml bottle, courtesy of Dickinsonbeer, thank you very much! A hazy medium to dark blonde beer, with a large, frothy, fully lasting white head. The aroma is moderately malty, moderately hoppy, moderately yeasty. There are notes of toasted bread, flowers, herbs, grass, grapefruit, barnyard, earth, citric fruits, pepper and sage, with perhaps a hint of banana. The flavour is moderately sweet, moderately sour, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, dry and long finish with medium bitterness. Fantastic beer, a new aroma at every sniff, very complex, good hoppiness, excellent harmony. Simultaneously deep and hugely drinkable. I wish someone will import it to Italy sooner or later.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 ml bottle (my says 6,8% ABV). Golden body with a diminishing white head. Aroma is slightly funky, tropical fruit and perfume (in a positive way). Flavor is refreshing tropical fruit, citric fruit and spicy. No strong flavor, but very balanced and delicious. My definition of an American saison.

ACBF. Cloudy gold beer, residual white head. Herby and tropical fruit nose. Soapy tasting, chalky dry beer with some tropical fruit lost in there somewhere! Way too dry! Really not getting these Stillwater beers!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
