355ml can at home in Richmond as ’Stillwater Classique’, 4.5%, undated. Hazy dark yellow, opaque, lightly sparkling, foamy white head. Aroma is wheat, pink wafer, some Ribena and air freshener. Body is light, tingly carbonation, a little foamy. Taste is plain with tonic water, passionfruit, touch of corn, breathy fruits, very little malt character. Crisp, clean and dry which is good but I’d also say this one is a bit insipid. Not my sort of thing.

UPDATED: MAR 20, 2016 (Can into wine glass.) Medium plus frothy carbonation with a lemonade-yellow hazy color. Aroma is rather light but fresh, belgostyle yeastish. Has a small acidity and rather low but adequate level of bitterness with a thin texture and light, refreshing fruity flavor. Banana, pineapple, papaya with a dry medium finish. Too thin for my taste.

Can@home, from Heinen’s, Cleveland, USA. Light/medium bit soapy aroma of sweet malts, some fruits and a hint of banana. Lighter yellow color with small/medium white head and bit hazy liquid. Medium taste with bit yeasty notes of sweet malts, fruits and a hint of corm. Averagely balanced with medium taste spectrum and medium hoppy aftertaste with sweet malts. Light/medium body with medium carbonation. Overall, very individual, fresh taste. Nicely flavor for the percentage.

Can into goblet. This one seems rather unexceptional, a crafty adjunct beer. Of course it’s way better than Bud Light. Pours a hazy yellow with a creamy head that lingers. Yeast and grain aroma, light body with a puzzling mix of understated flavors, a bit of lemon, yeast, grass, hop bitterness. At least it doesn’t have that corn syrupy flavor of mass produced corn adjuncts. Underwhelming, glad I only bought one can.

A self-proclaimed "post-prohibition" ale, Classique is ridiculous in all the right ways. The corn, rice, and pils malt give this beer a cereal grain aroma and malty sweetness. It would play out like a lame joke if it weren’t for the earthy and lightly dank yeast and floral hops. There’s a hint of peppery spice, and the carbonation is lively. The combination of American-style swill and Belgian-style yeast should be a novelty at best. Somehow, Stillwater has managed to make this a delightfully weird and tasty low-ABV brew. This a brewery that loves to experiment, and so far I’m loving the results.

Pours a light, yellow-golden with a gigantic sudsy, well-retaining white head. Baking soda, beefy hop, lemon, and basement aromas. Full mouthfeel. Surprisingly little carbonation scrub given its liveliness. Basement air, lemon, beefy hop, and seltzer flavors.
