Existent represents the philosophy behind Stillwater Artisanal. We strive to define ourselves through our passion and sincerity while accepting that not all aspects of life are readily explainable. To manifest this ideology we present an ale of intrigue. Deep & dark though deceptively dry, braced by a firm yet smooth bitterness and accented with an earthy hop and mild roast aroma. This is an ale for you to define..

’and if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.’ –Nietzsche

Thank Nietzsche for small favors... $8.99 four-pack from Sam’s Quik Shop in Durham. Pours a lovely dark, dark brown with a foamy but think light tan head with decent lacing. Nose of tobacco, char, molasses, some banana, funky yeast, heather. Some wood and earth, and a hint of anise. Pretty dry finish. Really digging this four-pack.

Perhaps I got an unusual batch. Bought it at a Total Wine in Folsom. Strong yeast scent, actually very appealing. Dark brown color. In addition to traditional dark ale flavor, I sensed a bit of orange peel in the taste - a little sour, a little bitter. Not my favorite, but the aroma was a winner.

Pours a dark brown with short-lived head leaving no lacing - like cola. Aroma is Belgian, with more sweetness coming out as it warms. Taste is sweet moderately roasted grains, somewhat earthy and dry, staying sweet throughout. Some spices like clove come through in the end. Just a hint of warming. Not bad, not super good.

12 oz bottle- Pours brownish black with a thin light tan head that reduces leaving a collar. Aroma is classic Belgian yeast and spices, very Stillwater, candy and brown sugar open up as it sits. The taste is strong in roasted grains, Belgian yeast, chocolate. Body is medium and carbonation is high. Not bad, a little basic for a brewery of this caliber.

Pours like a cup of coffe with amber hues. Nose of dark fruit and light nutty roast, Belgin yeast and dark candy. Flavor is faint dark fruit and burnt biscuit with lightly sweet candy and finishing with dry nutty roast. Decent amount of lingering roast and coffee. Mildly dry. This dulls with further drinking. A nice strong with dubbel aspects and dialed-up roast.

Bottle pour in the middle of my own personal Stillwater brewfest at home. Pours near black with a super sticky, lingering head. Roasted malt forward aroma. Flavor is a smooth roasted malt with a little bit of a smokey finish. Solid beer overall. Enjoying the brews from these guys.

@ Party Town / Florence KY --- Clear dark ruby brown with a ragged 1" head that slowly drops, ragged splotches of lace. A rough, but good looking brew. Taste is dark roasted malt that grows into the palate with the addition of dark earth laced with citrus. The finish turns somewhat bitter, but as it lingers, dark chocolate appears out of nowhere, making this a complex and amazing brew. A great example of a Dark Belgian Ale.

12 oz via bottle on a recent camping trip. Aroma and flavor of dark fruity esters, light roast, earthy hops, dark malts and light bitterness. Medium body with a dry finish. Interesting brew/

Some yeast aroma, bit of a caramel taste with some grass. Semi smooth body, not to shabby
