Existent represents the philosophy behind Stillwater Artisanal. We strive to define ourselves through our passion and sincerity while accepting that not all aspects of life are readily explainable. To manifest this ideology we present an ale of intrigue. Deep & dark though deceptively dry, braced by a firm yet smooth bitterness and accented with an earthy hop and mild roast aroma. This is an ale for you to define..

Bottle pours effervescent dark reddish brown with thin tan head. Roast, soy sauce, earth, caramel, Mildly bitter. Moderately sweet. Creamy medium body. Didnít care for it when I first opened the bottle, but it got better as it warmed up. Tastes like a porter when itís colder and a belgian when itís warmer.

Bottle purchased at Surdykís. Consumed in snifter glass. Aroma carries a strong roasted malt characteristic and a Belgian yeast quality to it. Appearance is definitely dark...brown/blackish with a tan head. Taste feels a little bit like a black IPA with a little bit less bitterness. The roasted notes from the aroma carry through the taste with an underlying earthiness. Borders on the darker Belgian dubbels Iíve tried in the past with less of an emphasis on sweetness. Coffee and dark chocolate come to mind. Itís got a dry mouthfeel that I actually kind of enjoy right now. Dark fruits are in the equation as well. Overall, a very solid beer. I would seek it out again.

Dark amber color with big tan head. Smells very Belgian, yeasty, malty, bananas, bread, dark malts. Taste goes back and forth between a blonde belgian ale and dark malts. Smooth mouthfeel. Nice, but it has a weird switch between dark malts and fresh belgian banana yeast feeling.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Maxís place. Thanks Tom L. Cleardark brown-black with an off-white ring. Faint smoky aroma, malty and a little peppery. Mildly bitter, slightly dry and roasty. Mild fizz, medium body, roasty, sunflower seeds finish. Nice.

Bottle at home. Pretty decent, but I live in a beer town so tend to get spoiled. Dark, rich imposing pour. Definitely Belgian notes and sweetness somewhat lingering. Plums, raisins- intensely fruity. More roast than I think works in a saison. Somewhat boozy. Decent, but not blown away.

Saw Farmhouse and assumed it would be lighter. The dark appearance belies any expectations I had. More fruity and caramelly than the typical farmhouse and a nice, crisp dryness at the end.

bottle from liquor express. pours black with a massive white pillow head. leaves a shitload of lacing in the glass. lots of malt on the nose. Definitely get some of the dark fruits on the tongue youíd expect with the style. Nearly 8% which is well hidden. Finishes fairly clean. Solid but not spectacular for style.

Draught at Erzbierschofís Bar Krone, Bern
Black color, compact beige head. Mild aroma of milky dark malts. Lean body, dynamic mouthfeel, some roasted malt, not ashy or burnt, moderately sweet, with a touch of chocolate, some yeast character, correctly bitter.
A good beer, nothing surprising though.

Appearance: very dark maroon almost black color, pours with a very small tan head that dissipates quickly Aroma: strong coffee, plum Taste: plum, coffee, dark roasted malt, kind of sweet, not too bitter Palate: light mouthfeel, average carbonation, plum aftertaste Overall: not as wild as I thought, reminds me of an abbey beer more than a farmhouse ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a dark mahogany color with an off-white head. Aroma is dark fruits. Flavor is dark fruits, some roast, and a lightly bitter finish that gives it a bite. Has a thin body. This isnít bad, but itís not very memorable either.
