A bracingly deep ale, built dark and rich with an elegantly lean body, accompanied by heady aromas of Belgian yeast, earthy hops and gently kissed by a wisp of smoke.

Bottle from Wine Emporium 031214. One of the best stouts that I have had in a long time. Super dark and super tasty. Fills the nose with rich and slightly bitter aromas. Full n the mouth with an aftertaste that goes on and on. A beer to savour.

Muddy black color with cocoa head. Sweet roasty grain nose, with perhaps a touch of hay. This beer does indeed conjure up some essence of the Olde Worlde in the ever so slightly mysterious, yet indescribably familiar bouquet subtext. Perhaps its the infringement of chocolate and anise, and perhaps event a soupcon of molasses. Sweet chocolate body with doses of milk chocolate, anise, and hay. Cacao nibs and roasty, fresh milled roast barley finish.

Thick black pour with a dissipating dark brown head. Lots of sticky lacing. Aroma is toasty malt, a little funk, cherries, dark chocolate, and plums. Nice warm presence of alcohol. It's sweet and bracing, with an excellent coffee finish that displays traditional stout flavors. This stout has many elements and really unfolds long after the first sip ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(Draught at Beer Temple, Amsterdam, 20 Aug 2014) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of creamy chocolate, coffee and blueberries. Malty, roasted taste with chocolate, coffee, blueberries, cacao and a creamy finish with a generous cacao bitterness. Almost full body, with a certain malt sweetness. Chocolatey, tasty and well balanced. Very nice.

Looks great. This is a decent stout but itís just a bit too sweet, both in the aroma and in the body. Quite black, itís filling yet sugary.

Pours almost no head on a black body. The aroma has lots of roasted malt, a little burnt wood, coffee and dark chocolate. The taste is great. Really roasty with background bittersweet chocolate. The texture is thicker. Quite enjoyable.

Black/brown with very fine bubbles, and a thin brown head. Aroma is burnt sugars, with some coffee, and taste is the same, but more along the lines of a dark belgian candi syrup. Very rich and beautiful, , but still finishes clean on the palate. $4/12oz

I donít know what makes a Foreign Stout a Foreign Stout, but apparently this Stout is one. Itís from Maryland, USA, so I guess itís not foreign to Oregon, USA. Anyways, it tastes great, like a Stout should, very rich and a bit sharp around the edges.
