Human history is filled with myths and legends that shape and define our culture. Rituals, celebrations, gatherings.. whatever. One thing that’s for sure, is we enjoy a proper shindig. So let’s get the stories flowing and share a little ’Folklore’. A bracingly deep ale, built dark and rich with an elegantly lean body, accompanied by heady aromas of Belgian yeast, earthy hops and gently kissed by a wisp of smoke.

Opaque, nearly black pour. Vanishing mocha head. Aroma of smoky Belgian yeast. A more complex flavor than anticipated based on the nose. Roasted, charred, a little bitter. Some dark fruit notes with buried caramel undertones. Pretty well balanced. Slick and flat with a long, dry finish. Lingering alcohol. Pretty solid Stillwater offering.

Pours black with a large fading head. Nose shows dry roasted malt, cocoa, milk chocolate and oatmeal. Flavours include big chocolate notes, dry roasted barley and a hint of liquorice too. A nice amount of residual sweetness. Carbonation is a bit aggressive.

On tap at the BeerTemple. Dark black brown pour with tan foam. Aroma is roasty, light chocolate notes, light leather, pretty malty. Taste is really roasty, burnt toast, light caramel notes, nice alcohol warmth. Palate is med-full bodied with good carbonation. Easy drinking.

Coffee, milk chocolate, dried fruits and some roasted malts in the aroma. Almost black with a red tint, tan head. Medium to heavy sweet and medium bitter. Full body with a average carbonation. Overall a nice stout, but i would like a bit less carbonation and a bit less of apple in the flavour.

Svart med lavt lys brunt skum. Lakris, mørke frukter, mørk sjokolade og syrlige bær. Salt, lett bitter og noe søtlige toner i bakgrunnen. Kort men fyldig. Bitter salt avslutning. lite avslutning.

Draught @ BeerTemple, Amsterdam. Jet black pour, ocre head. Salmiac nose. Flavour too, not much else. Nice, but bit boring.

Very black bodied and with stable beige lace. Coffee, woody, toasted, dark caramel. Rich aroma for the abv. Quite creamy. Taste is creamy too, medium sweet, light smooth hop bitterness that’s more apparent in the end. Quite creamy and nice but somehow it’s not overly appealing to me. Perhaps my mood. (33cl bottle from Bière Révolution)

Bottle from Sonoma Cellars. Pours a very, very dark brown with a light brown head leaving spots of lace. Aroma has dark fruits, caramel, chocolate, and licorice. The plum component of the dark fruits, and contrastingly, the bakers chocolate, come through more down the glass. Taste follows; stone fruits, some chocolate, some caramelly malts. Medium bodied, mostly fruity. Decent. 14.3
