COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Human history is filled with myths and legends that shape and define our culture. Rituals, celebrations, gatherings.. whatever. One thing that’s for sure, is we enjoy a proper shindig. So let’s get the stories flowing and share a little ’Folklore’. A bracingly deep ale, built dark and rich with an elegantly lean body, accompanied by heady aromas of Belgian yeast, earthy hops and gently kissed by a wisp of smoke.

Deep black pour with a thin lacey light tan head. Absolutely wonderful nose with notes of creamy milk chocolate, a kiss of Kahlua, a wisp of smoke, some gentle coffee notes and a earthy bit of nougat. Wonderful flavor full of roast, sweet chocolate, a kiss of smokey coffee, and a little bit of belgian yeast featuring a light kiss of stone fruit and high alcohol esters. If the flavor itself were slightly less boozy this would have been unimpeachable..

This was my favorite cask tasting at the festival. Great fruity taste and a nice complex aroma. This one had a nice consistent head where as the cocoa nibs version did not b/c of the cocoa.

Bottle… This beer rocks!… Pours black with a mid-sized, creamy, cappuccino head that never completely disappears. The aromatics are super chocolaty with toasted nuts and a glob of caramel. Full-bodied and silky with tingly carbonation. Sweet, milk chocolaty flavor with a nice note of vanilla and a splash of medium sherry. Finishes smooth, roasty and bittersweet. Bottle courtesy of ygtbsm94. Hoping for a speedy recovery for you, Brad!

Dark dark brown with lasting dense head and lace. Wood earthy licorice yesterday’s campfire aroma. Rich bitter tree bark (yes, I’ve tasted it) coffee earth ash smoke with bitter yeasty wood smoke and old pine finish. Immediately reminded me of Adam. And that’s FUCKING AWESOME.

Stillwater Folklore has a thin, beige head, a dark brown (essentially black) appearance, and not really any lacing left behind. The aroma is of sweet, dark-roasted malt, black cherry, dark chocolate, and char. Taste is of dark-roasted, charred malt, black cherry, a touch of licorice, bitterness from the char, prunes, and dark chocolate. Mouthfeel is medium, not heavy, as one might expect. Stillwater Folklore finishes semi-dry, rich, and surprisingly smooth. No real alcohol pick up with this one. RJT

Bottle pour. Very dark with medium head. Aroma is multi-dimensional with some coffee and some sour fruit. Malty flavor with a quick change to chocolate, coffee, caramel, and dark fruit. Very roasted flavor to finish. I really enjoy this beer. Very complex. Delicious.

75cl bottle served in a Leffe glass. Absolute gusher! Two minutes and glasses of froth later and I am able to pour this into a glass. Aroma is powerful dark fruits (blackberries, cherries) and burnt malts. Pours a wonderful dark brown (almost black) ale with a hugely impressive dark beige head which persists throughout the drink. This is a sipper. Taste is very complex with the dark fruits promised in the aroma being forefront in its presentation but giving way almost immediately to chocolate and coffee. As the beer warms up charred barrels are very prominent in the aftertaste with a nice tobacco(y) dryness. Mouthfeel is medium so spot on for a stout (this is not an imperial stout) with a reasonably lively carbonation. I have awarded bonus points for the truly excellent artwork on the label. A welcome addition to my repeat order list and further proof that I am preferring American beers to Belgians.

Big milk chocolate nose, it’s more of a sweet note than the cocoa nibs version was, I’m guessing this has carafa in it. Light to moderate sweetness, more milk chocolate, light roast, some coffee and dark fruits, a touch of cola and some fruity yeast. Great beer, a fitting tribute to both!
