3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draught at Lord Hobo, 5/13/16.
Thoroughly hazy, peach-apricot copper body is topped by a modest white head with average retention (slowly fades to cover).
Lots of cereal grain and light wood in the nose balance the fairly easygoing brett fruit notes (lime, guava). Some hints of vanilla and more fruitiness from the hops, on the finish, adding light peach-mango and mild citrus to the equation. There’s no resinous hop character nor any overly intense brett notes, but it still comes off slightly jumbled.
In the mouth, not really seen from the nose, there’s a very persistent, rather strong buttery character. I’d write this off to the wood-aging, but I don’t see any mention of it in anyone’s reviews, and I’ve never seen cedar taste savory/buttery, but rather very dry, woody and almost grainy at times. Add back in the rest of the flavors, which are mostly enjoyable, and it’s not offensive or anything, but whatever this big buttery flavor is, it dominated the beer for me and definitely clashed with the brighter, more dry and fruity notes. Will certainly revisit, if given the chance.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a hazy golden orange from the bottle with bubbly white head that dissipates to leave moderate lace. Aroma of the wild yeast up front that quickly leads to awesome fruity notes and a hint of the spicy cedar on the end. Taste follows, great balance of flavors for me, the wild yeast might be taking over a bit but I don’t mind that. Really excellent.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
AP: Hazy "Sunny D" gold, frothy and airy head.
AR: Sweet lemon skin, bruised green apple, soft leather, fresh violet, tangerine, vibrant young spruce, mineral earthiness, potpourri, pomelo, bready malt.
T: Gentle tangerine upfront, candied lemon rind, soft white flowers, flat & coating leathery yeast, pine. Easy body with a finely chalky but smooth texture. Linger of floral apple and gently tart lemongrass.
Not sure if a whole lot of cedar shined through, knowing it is a very potent wood. Still very nice.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at home with friends, courtesy of Jason. Pour is slightly hazy golden with a white sized head and good lacing. Big weed, grassy, ganja, super dank, woody, some spicy hops, lemons, and biscuit in the aroma. Taste is ganja, dank, tons of weed, grapefrui, lots of cedar, some pepper, and floral notes with a bitter finish. Medium body with medium carbonation. Pretty good.

Cask with Citra and Summit (10/9/11): Pours a hazy deep amber with a full-lacing froth of pillowy white head. Has a big fresh resiny hop nose with a soft biscuity pale malty sweetness. Starts with good fullness and light sweetness with a biscuity complexity and lots of fresh resiny grapefruity hops. Extremely smooth, flavorful and drinkable.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at Max’s during today’s Stillwater event. The event page says this beer is wet hopped, dry hopped, and aged on Cedar planks. Served in a cervoise.
Pours a slightly hazy yellow-straw color with a very short white head and no real lacing or anything else on the way down. The nose brings bright, fresh Citra hops with a bit of that fresh-hop "green" character. Faint earth and a bit of wheat. Light spice. The flavor really hits the perfect level of Citra hops and adds a bit of wheat and white pepper. Good bitterness and a dry finish. Light body. Simply excellent.
