Pours a deep clear amber with a frothy light brown head. Aroma of floral notes, candy sugar, spicy yeast, leather & pepper. Taste is sweet candy sugar, spicy pepper, chocolate, smoke and alcohol. Carbonation is really high on this one and kind of ruins the many flavors. This beer is trying to do too many things at once.

8% from Ølbutikken. A dark brown, almost black with reddish tints. Milk chocolate aroma with hints of Saison esters. Light zesty carbonation gives it a refreshing mouthfeel. Fruity, estery at first, then the dark malts bring forth light chocolate, and it has a pleasant lingering dark chocolate malt finish. Quite good, an easy drinking 8 percenter.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Dark brown pour. Aroma is roasted malts, a little yeast. Flavour had some saison qualities, along with dark chocolate and coffee. Finish was somewhat spicy and bitter. It didn’t come together well for me.

Draught at Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen
Balck color with creamy head. The aroma is sweetish and stale (pond water), overripe fruits, candeish, it reminds me of some poor Dutch Abbey Ale. Good body structure; strange flavor, not real roasted malts, instead some liquorice and bubble-gum; very light yeast spices; sweetish; stale pond water impression; no bitterness.
Classic failed American attempt to brew a Saison, this time more vicious.

375 ml bottle. Pours a dark brown with medium head that settles quickly. Aromas of brown sugar, light smoke, leather, and dark floral scents. Flavors of burnt malts, smoke, cola, and alcohol. Hot for the ABV.

375 ml bottle.
Pours a dark brown colour with a firm creamy head. Aroma is rather complex with notes of dried raisins, slightly tart berries, sweet toffee and bread. Actually has some similarities with Rochefort 8. Flavour of dried raisins, yeast, sweet caramel, bread-like maltiness, tart berries, pepper, licorice and some floral notes. Medium bodied, very smooth mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Finishes sweet, alcohol warming and dry with some tart berry notes again. Rather interesting, like an overly spiced version of Rochefort 8. Wouldn’t label this as a saison though, more of a Belgian Strong Ale really.

An interesting and tasty saison. Pours a deep black with a light tan head. Smells great, some cherries and bayleaf. Taste is sweet, has some French vanilla and some roasted coffee in the finish. Like a saison style black lager. Pretty good! Had on tap it East Side Club Tavern in Olympia.

dark brown, frothy white head goes to a ring quick. Nose is very sry, grassy barn, light over-yeast. Dusty malt and light grass up front, wheat Pancake grains mid with a really nice earthy chocolate finish, nicely dry. Very balanced,

3.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark dark brown with a thick creamy cap some chunkies on the bottom. Not the aroma I was expecting, I’m kind of taken back by it. Big nose full of soap with an up front sour coffee and that about it. Taste is better thankfully! Coffee, with wheat and yeast, hints of spice, big banana in the finish. Taste like a mix of a stout and a hefe. Sweetness builds the more you drink. Creamy and medium bodied. Digging the sweet banana in this beer. Is that chocolate I taste? Maybe? Good brew nothing epic.

10/10/11/12/12/11
