Dark color, large sample. Aroma of roasted malts, some belgian yeast, quite spicy, lots of licorice, some coriander and clove hints. Now that I read it, I can distinguish some rose hips. Thought there was some celery, coriander like note as well, so that might be caused by the flowers or berries. Quite dry, but quite some sugary finish as well. Soft alcohol burn. Elegant, though tough on the licorice. Feels very much like a spicy winter ale.

Why name a beer after a Scanner Darkly? I got to 25 minutes of that movie and threw up blood... . Pours a ruddy brown .. Great lacing, mild head .. . Dirty hay, yeast, wood slivers, and squashed bugs .. . Easy mouth .. . Finish is a bit grungy, decent brew .. . . Being stabbed with a screwdriver isn’t as fun as it sounds, trust me..

I think the Ratebeer Sorting Hat had trouble with this one. Definitely a saison, despite its colour and the addition of flowers n’ shit. Really cool dark pour at Beer Revolution. Lots of floral hibiscus notes on the nose, soft berry fruit aroma. Lots of yeast and carbonation on the palate, but some burnt sugar, raisin, berry sweetness as well. Really cool saison/spicer.

Dark brown with a reddish purple hue, big rocky tan head. Aromas of dark fruit, dark cocoa and a light musty funk. Tastes of juicy dark fruits, plum and cherry, dark chocolate and a light acidity. Full and rich mouth feel with a dry finish. Very enjoyable.

Pours a very dark reddish brown with a big loose-ish head and good lacing on the glass.

The aroma is like dingy laundry that I left in the washer for a few days after the cycle was done, which sounds awful, but I don’t know it works in beer better than it does in a washing machine with clothes in it that you are trying to get clean. There are also cocoa and floral notes along with some very subdued roastiness.

The flavor is really quite rich, but not in a sweet way... layers of berries, herbal bitterness, intense black pepper, and floral characteristics are all very par for the course here. More subdued flavors of cocoa, banana & pear dance well within the mix. The beer is very dry, and I think that that works more in it’s favor than disadvantage, although I do also think that this beer could be a perfectly good beer with more sweetness. Is it weird to say that? Like, I like it better the way it is, but it’s got flavors that would work well with sweetness as well.... that’s what I’m saying, I guess.

The beer is prickly on the palate and surprisingly light for a boost of 8% alcohol.

Would drink again, maybe soon?

2010 bottle out of cellar. Time was good to this one, the carbonation dropped to where it should be and the flavors were big on the fruit side. Thoroughly enjoyed the brew glad I have another

375ml brown bottle. Deep brown pour. A few fingers worth of brown foam that fade into a creamy ring. Nose has dark malts that are chocolatey and roasty, spicy yeast, herbal notes. Taste has dark roasty malt, fruit/berry, a bit toasty. Finish has floral notes and some spice and herb notes, late earthiness. Good dryness and lots of carbonation, body is medium. An interesting dark saison.

Pours a very dark brown letting little to no light through and a small creamy long lasting tan head that leaves a few spots on the glass. Aroma is roasted malts, berries, floral, spicy yeast, and faint alcohol. Flavour is fruity, spicy yeast, peppery, burnt sugar, roasted malts, chocolate, mild alcohol warming, lightly tart, mildly bitter and a dry finish. I’m a fan though at first the carbonation was too high, let it sit for a bit it’s and it mellowed out to where I think it should have been right out of the bottle. Overall it’s a solid beer.
