COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dark chestnut colored ale with a nice steady off-white head. Aroma is all about finesse, loads of blossoms and spring flowers. The mouth-feel is refined, playful and complex with Saison-like peppery flavors. Soft nutty after taste with a bite."

Bottle. Pours a mostly clear amber body under a small fizzy off-white head that faded to a thin film. The nose is rather heavy with lots of sweet malt and a little earthy spiciness and a light note of alcohol. Smells kinda like a really heavy Saison. The flavor is rather sweet up front with a heavy caramel and some toffee notes. Finishes a little spicier with some earthy notes and moderate alcohol heat. Interesting beer, not something that Iíd drink with regularity, but worth a try.

Poured dark brown. Smail tan head. Nose of toffee and brown sugar. Dark fruit. Medium plus body and sticky mouthfeel. Flavor is molasses and spicy with flowers. Very interesting and drinkable.

375ml bottle (9% ABV per label) into Le Duvel - nose is basement dirt, old flowers and Belgian candy. Sip adds a little harsh and sweet. Black pepper does creep in like, well, you know... Kind of dull and heavy like a good late night narrative-driven movie.

Bottle @ home, picked up at Wilburís Fort Collins. Pours a bit cloudy dark orangish brown appearance with a light brown head. Gooey caramel, orange candy, floral aroma. Some spicy / phenolic notes as well. A bit oxidized. Goopy brown sugar / toffee, tangerine fruity, kind of boozy flavor. Spicy and sweet. Too strong for my liking. Not sure if Iíll be purchasing many more of these high priced Stillwater releases.

Lovely orange-brown with lace. Wheaty, saison yeast, spicy, some caramel, grass. A touch of cola. Nicely spicy yeast, caramel, dark malts, nice malts. Clean and dry. Very nice amber saison. Floral, but donít especially get rose or jasmine. OK, maybe a bit of jasmine.

Una vera belgian strong ale di classe, dal carattere dolce ben bilanciato, con note floreali e speziate intense e conturbanti. Líalcol si insinua solo lievemente, ma non disturba. Ottima!

Bottle. Floral aroma with some peppery spices. Surprisingly sweet, with a honey-like essence. Finishes and drinks a bit heavy.

Bottle. Brownish pour, not much head. Smells of roses, spring blossoming flowers, and a bit of grain. Very smooth and velvety in the mouth, the wet malts bring up squishy stepped on darker fruits in the front and itís all jasmine and violent in the finish, with hints of rose petals on the lingering side. Good stuff! Bonus points for the trifecta of rose, violet, and jasmine!

glennmastrange (2226) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - DEC 7, 2013
Bottle. Moderate roasted, nutty and and milk chocolate for the malt, light herbs for the hops, moderate to heavy dough for the yeast, with background notes of fig, date, toffee and brown sugar. Head is tiny, wispy, with a spot or two of lacing and is almost fully diminishing. Color is murky medium brown. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Palate is medium to full, creamy verging on syrupy and an almost flat carbonation. Very tasty Belgian Strong Ale, but I guess this went a little flat in the bottle Would have been a much better beer with so much as a soft carbonation.
