COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed with good friend, Urbain Coutteau of De Struise Brouwers. Urbain describes this work as "Dark chess-nut coloured ale with a nice steady off-white head. Aroma is all about finesse, loads of blossoms and spring flowers. The mouth-feel is refined, playful and complex with Saison like peppery flavours. Soft nutty after taste with a bite."

Draft at Max’s. Very dark red tinted pour with a light tan head. Fruity aroma with a touch of cherry. Moderately sweet flavor. A bit peppery and earthy. Cherry and maybe a bit of a coffee note. Bitter finish with a bit of an alcohol burn.

Appearance: Pours out a dark chestnut brown body with a tall, quickly accumulating, light khaki-colored head.

Smell: Dark, moderately roasty malts hinting at less-than-bold coffee, sweet chocolate, mixed berries, cider, and liquor, with a portion of Pibb Xtra.

Taste: Dark, roasty with muted coffee, cocoa powder, pumpernickel bread, and a greedy sip of simple syrup given additional dashes of cola and cream sherry. Soundly sweet upfront. Mottled yeast comes and goes quickly. Plum jelly sits atop apples atop bitter orange peel atop over-ripened berries. Moderately acidic. Pungent pepper and whole clove spiciness grows on the back half with some encountered heat from the alcohol. Fruity, semi-dry finish with lingering tongue, gullet, and belly warmth.

Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium-high carbonation. Yearningly chewy.

Overall: A nicely complex brew. A little hot as it goes along, but makes for a decent nightcap.

Cloudy brown with nice beige head. Hops, some toffee sweetness, overripe fruits. Hard to describe beer. Maybe I should try this again! Anyway, I like both taste and palate. Better than Outblack.

Bottle pours deep brown with a thick light tan head. Aromas are sweet dark fruits and Belgian candi sugar. Taste is very dubbel like, with raisin, toffee, and floral notes. Body is medium, alcohol is notable, but does not overpower. The beer is sweet but not too sweet. Leave a nice nutty and clean finish. Overall, I like this one a lot. Another great brew by Brian (and Urbain).

Bottle: hazy, slightly muddy looking beer with a frothy, quickly disappearing off-white head. Very yeasty, phenolic aroma with notes of malt, caramel and dried fruits. Taste is smooth, yeasty, spicy medium sweet, with notes of brown sugar, nuts, licorice, pepper and a very weel-balanced medium bitter hoppy finish. Full bodied beer with a very well hidden ABV, soft carbonation. Complex as hell - like a saison paired with a quad. Ghee, it’s good.
