Bottle picked up somewhere consumed at Mums, Worcester, Thames, Friday 28th November 2014. Pours almost black with beige head.Tangy, tart with a nice fruity sourness. Red wine ageing showing, a real sipper is this. It is really zappy, fruity and tart. Really likeable but would have like a smaller bottle or to have shared, its hard going on yer’ own. 500 ml bottle from Bieropholie, served cool and shared. Tart fruitiness, a bit of chocolate, coffee, a little spicy. Medium body, fairly still. Tart fruit, roasted malts, chocolate; dry with fairly high acidity and a reasonably roasted malty finish.

Bottle @ cz. Aroma is bretty red fruits with roasty liquorice. Some mocca. Flavour is dry sourish red fruits with dark malts and caramel. Okay I guess.

DØE Århus Syd: sour black to red wine beer. stick out out in many directions. Moderately tart. Very complex. incredibly unique. Lots of red wine flavor.

Bottle in a field in the Czech Republic. Black pour, creamy tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, bretty, fruits, chocolate, wine and slightly spicy. Flavor is quite bitter, sour and with brett. Decent balance and nice body.

Gran sabor y muy buen aroma. Con un retro gusto a vinate impresionante quizás menos equilibrada que que la big worse del mismo estilo!

500 ml bottle from Portale Birra, served in a snifter glass. Dark brown, but looks pitch black in the glass, with a nice, frothy and persistent beige head. Very good lacing. On the nose blackberries, dark fruits under spirits, red wine qualities (wood, oak, light brett, leather) and just a hint of roasted malts. Same impressions in the mouth, but more amplified: moderately sour, lots of tannins, astringent and slightly puckery. Couldn’t really tell this was a stout before the barrel treatment, as there are virtually no roasted/coffee/chocolate components anymore. Average carbonation, medium body, oily texture. Nice, but I wish there was more balance.

slight beige head disappears without lacing. coffee coloured. aroma is metallic, anise and leather. taste is bitter, wry, taninens, sour. medium body and carbonation. couldn’t put myself through finishing this, quite awful, zero balance. bottle 50 cl / bbf 2016

Botella de 50 cl en llamas, del rincón de la cerveza. mayo de 2013. buena cerveza con sabores tostados y algo quemados además de cierto toque dulce. cuerpo medio con 8.5 vol que se notan bastante bien. Sabores ligeramente a madera y licor de vino de los barriles. Mejor que la gypsy juice por el toque de barril. Para repetir sin problemas.

Bottle from my man Countbeer. Pours muddy black/brown with frothy tan head. Aroma is vinegar, dark red wine, some cherry. Taste is big, sour punch in the mouth. Lots of tartness. I wanted more balance but this definitely leans towards a ’sour’ rather than a ’stout’. Perhaps I am just not familiar enough with the genre. Points for the wine influence - I liked the deep flavors imbued from the barrel aging.
