From the bottle, at RBAG 2013 in Medicine Hat. Pours out a dark brown-red. Thin ring of foam in the glass and good looking spotty lacing left behind. Nose has dark caramel, chocolate and some sourness. In the mouth some dark malt/chocolate comes out, red wine, sourness. Cocoa and roast and earth in the finish with some toasty notes, a bit of liquorice. Interesting concept and quite well done.

Bottle from Mikkeller & Friends. Pours black with a short white head and 2mm of lingering lacing. Big brett, zest, plum and grape aroma. Taste is big dark fruits, nice sourness and lots of red wine vinous flavours: plum, grapes and black currant. Lingering sourness, light bitterness. Very refreshing for a dark beer.

UPDATED: AUG 7, 2013 Pours a deep black with no sediments or anything, just pure black. Aroma is really fun with more wine than anything but you can still feel a bit of the stout character if you try really hard. Head retention is not that good and it leaves some lacing but nothing impressive. Taste is dry, sour and a little bitter. You can sense some sweetness but nothing distracting and also a little roasted malt. Closest I can think of right now in terms of a similar experience would be a really nice Flanders red but with a little roasted malt mixed in. Tart and vinous, this feel a lot different than most sour stouts I have had to date. Awesome!

Well fuck me. This is a pretty special beer.
Pours and looks like a porter. Smells like a sour. Has the alcohol of an imperial stout. Tastes like a 50% imperial stout 50% Russian River Consecration mix. Pretty amazing.
Pours a jet black with a brown head. Aromas of tart fruit, chocolate bars, twangy berries. Taste is similar - but with way more chocolate. Still, not sweet at all. Pretty sour with a nice puckering finish. This was an amazing experience. O fo sho!

If this one wasnít super premium priced Iíd be buying a bit of this one. Pours dark brown that is a bit reddish with a soapy tan head. The aroma has cocoa, roasty malt, lots of red wine barrel aspects, quite vineous, spice, cream and ice cream malt. It has a medium / full body that still has a crisp feel with light sharp carbonation on the finish. The flavor starts with well blended flavors of roasted malt, red win and buggy Belgian yeast. Quite beautiful how they meld. There is also some light oak and spice. Beautiful wine traits on the finish that shows mineral earthiness and dark berry fruits. There is also beer aspects of dark caramel and bugginess from the brett. Excellent foreign stout, quite possibly the best Iíve had.

50cl bottle at Probus Wines, Dublin. Near-black pour with thin tan head and plenty of lacing. The aroma gives a huge hit of Brett - funky and pungent - as well as some hints of roasted malt and light vinous notes. Taste is again dominated by the Brett - plenty of tart, almost-cheesy fruitiness. Dark roast coffee and dark chocolate emerge from under the heavy blanket of wild yeastiness, as does a tiny bit of tannic red wine flavour. Surprisingly light bodied and easy drinking. Iím a big Brett fan, so I enjoyed this and didnít mind that the yeast dominated. Iíve got another bottle that Iíve stored in better conditions than this one was, so Iíll crack that open soon and rerate - hopefully itíll give more of the red wine barrel.

Fudge and balsamic and sharp wine tang almost pull this one off but not quite for me. The wine lingers too long and is astringent by the end. Nonetheless a respectable effort.

Bottle from Kihoskh, provided by Skinnyviking for the Absalon tasting session í13. Devil-black body, tan-coloured head, spotty lacing. Smell of red wine mixed with dark malts. Vinous flavour joined by malts and a touch of lactose. Tart and sweet ending. Quite well balanced. Partially pleasing (hotel room, Copenhagen 26.05.2013).
