Mikkel and Brian are two of the worlds most unconventional brewers. By designing beers at various breweries around the globe, they have found the freedom to experiment and innovate, resulting in unique beers that often blur the lines of definition. After having met at a festival in Bodegraven, NL the two realized that their first creations both were called Stateside. It was then an obvious decision to make the two recipes into a new product, packed full of piney, resinous hops, and backed by the esters of a farmhouse yeast strain.

Nice. Bretta and hay with some hops. Pours cloudy orange with great head and lacing. Finishes with light, lemony sourness and a touch of peppar. Bretta brilliantly balanced. Bottle thanks to JT. Nice citrus all around. Great collab between two great breweries.

Bottle. Moderate hay and cereal for the malt, dried grass and lemon for the hops, barnyard and earth for the yeast, with wood, pepper and a hint of clove in the background. Head is large, fizzy/frothy. light beige with darker swirls, with good lacing and is fully lasting. Color is murky, medium amber/orange. Flavor starts faintly sweet and lightly to moderately acidic, then finishes lightly to moderately acidic and lightly bitter. Palate is medium, watery with a fizzy carbonation and finishes a bit dry. Not as bitey a flavor as I expected, and very smooth. This Belgian Strong Ale from the first pour to the sedimentary last pour.

Review from backlog, tasted 06/23/2011. Pours opaque, dark orange with huge off-white head, settling into a nice frothy layer with lacing all around. Aroma is yeast, herbal hops which blend into a more piney character, followed by sweet, citric fruits, oranges and lemons. Taste is orange, spices, some farmhouse character, bitter herbal hops and lemon rind, long bitter finish. Body has excessive carbonation, too prickly and rough. Decent.

Bomber. Poured clear golden with a large white head. Aroma and flavor -- lot going on -- dry, moderately bitter, grassy, herbal, earthy, musty, mildly funky, citrus, spicy, a bit peppery. Quite good. Slightly thick mouthfeel.

Bread, with a kick nutmeg. I could go on about this beer for ages but i think a superb, simple would be enough but why not wax a little lyrical about a beer as good as this. So hoppy you would think that you could eat it, so yeasty that you imagine it could be sliced. Keep up the great work.

Good, not great. I was expecting more. Flavor was pretty nondescript. Some malt character, some bitterness. Perhaps this one was better fresh. Oh well.

750ml bottle. Pours a slightly hazed medium amber color with an inch of coarse off-white head. Aroma is sweet and mildly fruity with hints of spice from the yeast. Taste has bitter citrus peel hops that hit first, followed by a mild sweetness with hints of banana and spice. The finish is bitter. Medium body with a nice amount of carbonation

8/31/2011: Mikkeller Stillwater Two Gypsies Our Side... Aroma: Alcohol steeped grapefruit and orange peel; yeasty, hint of yeasty dough; very fruity with a hint of fresh apricot and pineapple. Appearance: Opaque gold color with a foamy, dull beige head. Flavor: Fruity and spicy; lots of citrusy hoppiness (for the style); I like the moderate grapefruit peel/pithe bite in the finish. Palate: Medium to medium-full body; soft and fuzzy feel; good level of carbonation. Overall: Nice beer and quite tasty.

1 pt 9.4 fl. oz. bottle (Alc. 7.5% by Vol.) shared by Tmoney99. Thanks Tom! Rating #359 for this beer.

Bottle. Pours a hazy orange golden color with a small white head. The aroma is floral, tropical, and citrus fruits, grass, bread dough, herbal with a hint of pepper. The flavor has an interesting blend of hop fruit character, citrus and tropical, with a dry feel. Toasted malts, yeast, some earthy bitterness through the finish and a bit of peppery spice. Quite a bit going on.
