Bottle. Pours yellow gold with big gushing fluffy white head. Nose and taste of farmhouse and wild yeast, soured rice cakes, lightly toasted artisan bread, lemongrass, horse blanket, white sugar, peppercorns and lightly spiced malt. Body on the lighter side of medium. Great session beer. A bit overcarbonated. Finishes bone dry but not abrasive.

Bottle. Pours a hazy golden color with a very thick white head. Nose is a little spicy and has some wild sourness in there. Taste is also fairly sour but with a little bit of rice in there. Interesting...

Bottled: pours a hazy bright golden with a pillowy froth of white head. Has a light citrus nose with a healthy dose of horseblanket funk. Starts with decent fullness and effervescent carbonation with mild sweetness and crisp tartness along with good brett funk and complexity before a drier bittersweet finish. Surprisingly drinkable and would make for a good session beer.

On tap 4 oz. sample at Pizza Paradiso in Alexandria, VA. Hazy, silvery straw-yellow with a hint of green, a white head and excellent lacing. Aroma of grass, herbs, Brett, yeast , sour lemon, musty citrus and corn. Taste of grass, wheat, lemon, musty citrus, corn, spice and funky light fruit. An especially good looking beer with an exuberance of wild smells and flavors, which are unfortunately throttled by a hefty dose of corn. To my mind, corn belongs on cobs or in soup, not in beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours light gold into a tulip. Bright white head with little retention recedes to skim surface. Sourdough and funk aromas. Dry with sweet caramel and sourdough upfront turning to marshmallow and band-aids before the lasting bitter earth finish.

Bottle. Pours a clear light yellow body with a rather large frothy and fizzy white head. A touch worried about this one, as soon as I popped the cap the head came crawling out. After I poured the first glass I had to fill a second as the head breached the top again. Turns out it’s pretty much OK though, just a bit excited I guess. Smells pretty interesting, can’t say that I get a whole lot of the ’specialty grain’ character from this, it’s so big on the farmhouse yeast and brett that there’s not much sense of the malt at all. There’s some nice floral hops though, which work really well with the brett. I really like the combo of brett and Saaz specifically. The flavor is very dry and full of pixie stick brett character and a bit of cobwebs and dust throughout. I think there’s a bit of an odd perfumy or soapy like flavor that permeates everything that may be from the mix of corn and rice with the funky yeastiness. I do tend to like the hops in here, but I’m not sure the complete mix works for me as a whole. Light bodied and dry with nice soft fizzy carbonation. Interesting beer for sure, but not sure I’d buy another. I’m always for trying new things and stepping out of the box with recipe formulation, but sometimes taking chances means an occasional miss.

On draught at the Porter. Also picked up a bomber from Green’s. Almost overlooked it. Lively clear golden pour with a big, thick puffy white head. Aromas are like wow. Lots going on. Notes of lemon, funk, more citrus, a good punch of old dusty books. Kinda reminded me of an Orval in appearance and initial impressions. Flavors were slightly tart and dry. Almost bittersweet in the finish. Nice lemony presence all around. Super dry and refreshing. Tingly mouthfeel. Love the idea, perfectly executed.

UPDATED: SEP 6, 2013 Bomber from Capone’s. Pours turbid paler than pale gold with huge 3-finger fluffy white head. Nose is very tart, very lemonadey, with some lactic sourness and hops. Tastes tart, lemony, mildly hoppy, with a medium finish. This one is a bit odd, but rounds out a bit and finishes much better than it starts. Re-rate 09/06/2013. Initial rate was not in line with my standards. This one is a bit odd and unique, yes, but not bad.

The aroma is very bad like a dirty public bathroom, wet blankets, earth, and adjuncts. The appearance is cloudy yellow with a foamy head. The taste is malty and not as bad as the aroma. The palate is thin. Overall this is surprisingly bad.
