3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Thin roasty murky saison. Nothing really works together here. The roastiness, saison type yeast fight with each other and are not compliments at all.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
From a 12 oz bottle shared at home. Pours a clear cola brown with an ecru head. Aroma of toasted nuts. Flavors of tart cherry and smoky wood. Light to medium bodied. Moderate carbonation. Crisp roasty finish.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing.
Body is dark brown to black.
Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain, husks / nut shells, cocoa powder), with notes of sour apple, random vegetable matter, anise.
Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter, slightly unclean.
Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.
Ugh...very disappointing. Crummy malt character and a sour odor...surprise, fairly sour and dirty in the mouth as well. Total drain pour, which is sad since Two Roads is normally a lot better of a brewery than this would lead you to believe...maybe itís just a poor recipe (i.e., Stillwaterís fault), maybe itís somewhat infected, but itís bad any way you look at it.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Clear black with a small beige head. Nose is like barn hay with sweet cereal grain tones, with a light citrusy tone and gentle roasty darkness. Flavor is gently roasty with an earthy grain and hay tone, not very hoppy or as citrusy as the nose.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours like cola - fizzy, dark brown - nose of mineral, chalk, dusty yeast, moderate sour acidity, floral bitterness, underlying chocolate sweetness - flavor is actually quite sour up front - an acidity runs through to the finish, until a strong sweetness develops - in between, thereís some black cherry, licorice, light chocolate - itís that sourness that is really most prominent, though - really disappointing product from Stillwater.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Roasty and Saisony yeast strains, this is just an ashy saison, itís ok but disjointed and unbalanced

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
With moderate head retention and a dark brown appearance, this black saison ale wafts slightly of cloves. It tastes of dark, bitter chocolate with a dry finish.
---Cheers until next time!
