On tap @ Proletariat, New York. Pours black with a creamy finger thick mocha head. Aroma is roasted malts and caramel. Normal body with soft carbonation. Flavour is sweet with leather, as well as some sour burned notes.

Pours jet black with thin head. Light nose of chocolate. Tastes lightly grassy, of chocolate, resin, dark fruits, smoke, and some yeast. Touch thin but pretty tasty.

Bottle. Black with a light tan head. Aroma and taste are traditional Saison. Spelt, clove and yeast. Creamy palate. Solid but not much going on out of the ordinary besides the color.

Pours black with a little red around the edges and a tan head. Aroma is spicy yeast. Spicy pepper up front, little bit of metallic taste also, just enough to be unpleasant. Little bit of dark chocolate on themalt profile, I don’t really like how it blends with the yeast and the spice. Not really my cup of tea.

Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours very dark brown with a slight tan head. Aroma is mildly earthy with a hint of sour. Maybe. Med body. Flavor is touch of sour with following earthiness and some chocolaty malt. It’s much better than I make it sound. This is really good stuff, and the flavor profile is very unusual. Good!

Near black; Dark walnut brown. Head is off-white, small lasting ring with swirls. Fruity, yeast, earth, citrus, spice. Light to medium body. Dry peppery dusty finish. Little sour. A little zing. Smooth and tasty.

Bottle into nonic pint. Pours black, slight tan head. Vegetal, spicy, roasted aroma. Taste is veggies, vinegar, roast, a bit metallic. Definitely interesting but nothing great. Would be better if it chose one style instead of trying to straddle some line.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with little head that left quickly, thin off white lacing. Aroma is sweet malt, yeast, light wheat and faint roast. Mouthfeel is thin with notes of sweet malt, yeast, spice, cocoa, roast, and a sweet finish.

Deep dark reddish brown. No head, almost completely still.
Smells of charcoal and brownies. Hazelnut and raisins, with sugary caramel. A tad on the saccharine side but not too cloying. Some seriously earthy, horsey barnyard funk, son.
The taste is more horsey, saison stuff, stone fruits (raisins/dates mostly), heavy yeast. The coffee is subdued, as is the hazelnut. The puckery sourness comes in at the end.
Chalky finish, thick and coarse. For being such a small abv, it has a ton of flavor.

Solid black saison, mild funk but would have liked a bit more. Easy drinker at 5%. Would drink again but not a favorite.
