Pours a deep brownish black from the bottle with thin ring of bubbly khaki head the leaves light webs. Aroma is faint, roast and crisp yeast esters, but hard to get. Taste is a little more there, special roast and chocolate malt, clean finish, odd esters, lager yeast mixed with farmhouse funk. Interesting idea, but a bit of a miss. Song is better than the beer.

Bottled. Poured dark with tan beige bubbles. Yeasty tartness then son dark malts. Interesting.

BTLD 07/01/13, so fingers crossed. Nose is sweet and floral, dark roast, sweet, chocolate, malty. Dark brown pour with beautiful chestnut poking out from the far edges, an airy tan head. Taste airy, lightly sweet, light yeast, minerals, roast, faint fruit, strongly tart, not really any bitterness to counter the tartness or sweetness. Fullish body. Itís hard from the tartness levels to tell if this is infected as they are within saison boundaries, but the roast/Schwarzbier character is all but gone by this point, but then again, carbonation levels are appropriate. I love the idea of mashing these two styles

Aroma of malt, wet earth, cocoa and coffee, great looking beer dark brown with a short lasting off white head. Great sour taste with traces of malt, coffee and cocoa. Watery feel with a slightly metallic.

12 oz. bottle. Pours black, with a small, bubbly, tan head. Light caramel and chocolate notes, with a significant tangerine aroma coming forward. Some notes of walnuts and orange peels. Some light bread and esters. Sweet, with a light citrusy tartness. Light to medium body, a little oily and thin, and acidic. Overall, this is a very interesting beer, but itís a little weak, and the citrus and roasted notes donít really work that well together.

The aroma is a little bit toasted malt and a little bit saison yeast. Saison tipical taste. Balanced. Light body.

Pours nearly black with brown head. Perhaps itís not fresh, because it doesnít taste that good to me. Yeast and metallic flavors.

Bottle. Shows BTLD 07/01/13. This is new to the area and I get a, nearly, 1 year old version. Letís see if that is good or bad... Black pour with a short tan head. Aroma is roasted malt and dark chocolate notes with hints of coffee, dark fruit, yeast and straw. Taste is funky yeast, tart berries, dark fruit, roasted malt, burnt caramel and coffee notes. Body is light-medium with a strong, bubbly carbonation. Finishes with more yeast and tart fruit notes, roasted malt, coffee and dark chocolate. Maybe some toasted dark bread as well. Nice!

Pours a finger of tan head on a black body. The aroma is milk and roasted malt, but nicer than that sounds. The taste has a dull bitterness that borders on metallic with a roasty malt profile towards the end. The texture is crisp with a lot of fizzy carbonation. It has a good flavor but the carbonation level was too high.
