My friend Ben brought three of these back from Baltimore for me -- heís the man. Golden orange pour, full off-white head. Aggressive nose of clementine orange peel and coriander, also biscuit and very subtle hints of mustiness. Somewhat sticky, clearly in the >6 ABV domain rather than lower and in more traditional saison territory. The flavor brings out the biscuity malts which are excellent, again that mandarin peel and coriander. Pretty strong hop close pushing rich hop oils late. I see this as one of the better American saisons Iíve had, though not my favorite interpretation of saison. A lot rests on how this one will age, Iíd say. If it mellows and brings out the dusty character, itíll be a winner. As it stands now, I feel that Iím being generous with a 3.8.

Sampled at the Hawaiíi Admission Day tasting. Pours a brass color with big whitish head. The aroma is spicy with white pepper, lemongrass, and a subtle honeyish floral note. The flavor is slight sweet earthiness, black pepper, sage, and a hint of cumin. It leaves a very floral aftertaste. Quite good.

Pours dark golden with a rich white head and a sharp citrus aroma. There is a carbonated barnyard flavor that starts sweet and finishes bitter and sour.

Pours a golden orange color with a thick white foam head. Has an aroma of lemon zest with some funk. Has a clean citrusy foamy taste, gives you a belgian ale feel with the mouthfeel. Nice dry finish with gentle bitters. Thanks to Damico for this tasty saison.

2010-08-03. Hazy pastel orange, small white head. 3+ Flavour is a bit spicy with a sort of lemony character, modest malt, dry finish lingers, more nuanced than that but I can not put names to the tastes. 7+ Modest aroma, lemon seed, light yeast. Average to light body. Might be better another time. Will try again if I get the chance .Cask at GBBF 2010

A: The pour is a cloudy straw color with a couple of fingers worth of white head. S: I really enjoyed all the different aromas in this one. Lemon zest, oranges, a slight earthy quality all right up front. Underneath, some bready malts and a light spice. T: The flavor is similarly interesting. A good mix of spice, citrus, malt, and very mild funk. The pepper is there, but subdued, and works well with the lemon, lemon and orange zest, earth, and slightly sweet malts. M: The body is light to medium with a pleasant effervescence and slight dryness. D: Overall, a very solid beer. I really liked this one quite a bit and wouldnít mind having this one again.
